I can’t believe this – I must be the only one in the country for who this site is working properly. It’s faster and better than the old site. Crazy.
December 3, 2008 at 18:56 #194096A: Toshiba – Satelite Pro – Lap Top
A: Tools – Add On – Extensions – Adblocker Plus 1.0
You have to click on each Frame & Ad seperately to block them – but that took 2 mins.
The only other thing is I only downloaded and starting using Firefox on Sunday – so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it – I honestly know very little about computers and the internet – so as I said before I might have just been luckly.
A: No
December 3, 2008 at 19:02 #194098Its working a lot lot quicker today. Possibly faster than the old site. I am quickly getting used to it now
December 3, 2008 at 19:04 #194099Still no sign of result archives – get them up there RP, bar the horse search they’re the best thing they make.
December 3, 2008 at 19:16 #194100Martin, I’ve used the results search on the new site already. IIRC, it appears on the right hand side of the screen when you’re browsing the day’s results (perhaps even in at-a-glance).
December 3, 2008 at 19:21 #194103Thanks Friggo – not found it yet but not logged-in. Annoying as I’m trying to work out my speed ratings, times etc. for Auteuil and I can’t using Zeturf, Paris-Turf etc.
December 3, 2008 at 19:34 #194106Firefox, I forgot to say once you have downloaded the Add-On – Right click on the Ad you want to remove – and then click – Adblocker and or Frameblocker.
I’ve done it on all the Websites I use – I’ve even got rid of that Labrokes ad on here
December 3, 2008 at 19:48 #194108Thanks for your reply Firefox.
I do have to say I am with Pompete on this one in that I have not encountered any problems accessing the site, apart from when it was down yesterday afternoon, – laptop tech info Intel Dual Core T2330 1.6Ghz , 2 Gb memory, Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
I must also say I do not rely on the RP site so only visit it once or twice a day, so I am probably fortunate in that aspect. I use it more to check their news pages to see if I have beaten them with any news items – call that vanity if you wish
I agree the teething problems are embarrassing and a pain but I also know how easy it is for these things to go tits up, which is why I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt.
One thing that also needs to be remembered is this is a free service – now whilst this is not justification for the problems some people are encountering – however when it is a free service the expectations cannot be the same as for a paid service.
One of the problems is the number of versions of browser available. I recently did a change to my web site to bring it up to date for IE8 and when I made the “simple” change it went completely haywire in all previous versions of IE, yet worked fantastically in IE8.

For me Firefox and Google Chrome are the browsers of choice followed by Sea Monkey (old Netscape) with Internet Explorer some way last. IE tends to be slow on all websites and prone to freezing; it’s only saving graces being the broad spectrum of its ‘user defined’ colour palette and being the sole browser on which BBC iPlayer seems to function correctly.
Google Chrome, which in effect is still in ‘beta’ being very basic but very fast (used for Exchanges) is handling the RP best, though it is still too slow to be satisfactory.

Here’s a link to the one for Arc day

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for
If so then you click on "Cards & Results" then choose the date you want the results for (I think you have to choose the month first and then the day) and then the results for that day should appear.
December 3, 2008 at 23:11 #194155I would probably prefer the new website, if only the thing would work.
December 4, 2008 at 00:09 #194159As has been stated before use Google Chrome and the thing will work fairly well. Archives can be found by clicking on the red down arrow next to the date under cards and results. A calendar opens up and you can enter any date you want back to 1998. The more familiar Results advanced search is to the right of the day selected
December 4, 2008 at 01:04 #194163The New RP site is dreadful at the moment, will need to give it some time to grow on me.

Indeed they do, db, but only in the format where each race is interrogated separately.
The old format of a table with all the results on one page, with time comparisons, going allowances, s/f’s and RPR’s for the full meeting was so much simpler, and a valuable tool to boot.
Like much of the rest of the ‘new’ website, it’s change for change’s sake.
For the life of me, I fail to see how making the simple complex is any good to anyone?December 4, 2008 at 14:42 #194242Hi gang
i want the old one back…
December 4, 2008 at 15:28 #194256Does anyone have any idea how much they are planning to charge for using the site in the near future and if it will be charged per racecard viewed or an annual/monthly fee? You will have to log in to view form etc and need to register to their members section but they are due to charge once they have got the site sorted out.
December 4, 2008 at 16:34 #194266The way things are at the moment they will have to pay us to use the site.
This is the 4th day that I have been unable to use it with any success. The longer it stays like this the more people will find an alternative or realise that they do not miss it as much as they thought they would.
