Gamble took the lyrics to ” Beg steal and borrow ” directly to heart , to be fair there was little begging but he did ” steal ” a farmer’s shotgun , using this he ” borrowed ” £15000 from a security van in Wandsworth in late 76 , in his crazed mind he believed the only way to meet Lyn Paul was to become a star himself , he used the money to start his own act hoping to secure a place on New Faces , alas the UK wasn’t ready for his crossing dressing punk Tom Jones tribute , ” what’s new ya pussy ” scored 4 points and Micky Most had to physically restrained from attacking Gamble on stage , in despair Gamble took to the following the New Seekers around the country , he took in the delights of Bridlington , Halifax ….. Bagnor , all in the hope of a glimpse of the Paul , alas the journey was to take an even darker turn ….

I would’ve kicked Most until he was lesser but yes Lyn Paul I have always liked – she had that breathy fresh faced beauty 😍 that the pure Cheshire air of the late forties would imbue into any big lunged girls, filtering it’s purity right through to their complexions, rosying them up, and reaching out to all their extremities.

“The deluge of voices in his head must be let out and the forum is his scribe…”

“…he is now watching his cartoons , nurse is giving him his desert and it’s windy outside his barred window causing the trees to sway.”

Nathan’s walk in the park hits quite a few true notes but the above stated words from the Groundsman who is not much liked, are sadly the most accurate.

There are quite a few citi types down on their uppers in here in what I call the bankbrokebin. I have access to the Internet and sizeable money supplies to fiddle with which makes me a rather privileged resident. The blob is right I finished off all the nurse Ratchets. Nobody visits the people in here – possibly around Xmas they might get a box delivered containing confitures. We have a meeting the first Friday of every month. I made the suggestion that everyone should get seven grapes on odd days to give us all the illusion we have visitors. They liked that and we used to get them every other day until I told them odd days were Monday Wednesday Friday and Sunday. I told em you’d never get visitors every other day – so they agreed and we get them Sunday and Monday. It’s pretty odd isn’t it TV or menace, that I’ve got much more nous than the normals?
Although a secure unit – I am allowed out on odd days. You’d be surprised where I get to and a couple of times I’ve gone awol but I like my little room and I have got a wooden wardrobe were I keep my mufty and the one white shirt. I wear that on a Friday when I sit in the chair and to talk to flatcap. I only have four voices – and could never manage the Blob’s ten – that would drive me crazee

Some of the voices are a bit worrisome though – especially the one that starts off a song with the words

‘ Young Man there’s no need to feel down.’

    :yahoo:

    Getting back on track.
Big Bucks was a horse I
    failed to fully appreciate
    until he was well lauded.
He won 23 out of 40 races –
    that’s 57.5%

People that liked the hurdler’s supremacy and guts in winning its races and used their bins, and left their wallets alone, and have kept to that altruistic mantra,
    don’t really need affordability checks.

It’s possible to bet inside your head – if you can do that you won’t need affordability checks.

If you reallt want to make serious money at the game of horseracing you first need to buy some midnight oil, then, you should either visit me here in the bin for an unhealthy natter, or re-read George’s 1984.

Eventually Gamble pursuit of the large lunged Paul had to stop for a while , what Gamble thought was love was what Paul thought was stalking , it was now 78 and his life directionless Gamble tired to sue Douglas Adams for stealing what he believed was his ideas for ” Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy ” alas ” Mad Bastards go forth ” had little in common and Gamble remained potless , he spent the spring laying Shirley Heights for the derby , on derby day he walked Epsom with a billboard decreing ” Shirley will scale no Heights ” , …. as the winner walked into the winners enclosure , Gamble was seen walking into the car park , a brown Austin Maxi was soon reported stolen , another alias would now be required ..

Racing Post affordability could be the basis of another inquiry.

re gamble’s flights of fancy I wonder if there could be some mileage in bringing Moe’s walks to a wider public given there are 293 episodes of Clare Balding’s ‘Ramblings’ available on the BBC i player. I don’t indulge but there must be tens who do.

78 was soon 79 , a brief stint as dusty bin ended when mid show he jumped out to ask Ted Rodgers ” what the **** was that clue ” he tried to make off with a fridge freezer but was caught and chucked in the back of a black Maria , after a month in the scrubs he decided he needed to get out of Blighty , he headed for Amsterdam and a new and brief career as adult performer ” Count Von Hung ” as he called himself made only one film , ” The plummer comes again ” alas when the director shouted action Gamble got busy unblocking the sink , all they got in the can was a blonde yawning and a play by play film of how to unblock your u bend , Gamble was once again unemployed , it was time to head home

There’s only one possible answer to that, two words, second one ‘off’.

Unless you want to be verbose in which case it’s three words, third word ‘yourself’.

I think there should be affordability checks for bookmakers and people should stop calling the so until they prove they can create their own odds. Same odds, same changes, same liability with all of them.

No reason to call them bookies any longer. They should afford to lose at least one grand per race/per event per customer and not just 100 or even less.

Plus, they must have own opinions about different events/competitions and create their own odds. No reason to change once Betradar tells you to do so. Stand by your own opinion.

    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/feb/28/art-galleries-sackler-gambling

This is the sort of atmosphere in which affordability checks are being introduced. A typical moralising Guardian article in which the headline “Gambling firms rely on addiction and misery for their business model” is stated as unquestionable fact.

It turns out the author was a gambling addict. Rather than take responsibility for her choices, she blames Denise Coates and says she should not be allowed to sponsor art exhibitions. She thinks they should all be funded by the state because everyone at The Guardian knows there is a bottomless pit of money to fund their interests.

To be fair, she does at least draw the distinction between gaming addicts and people who have the occasional bet on the horses. But the latter will be caught up in affordability checks as well.

If any of the Exchanges ask me for that information, I will either stop betting altogether or revert to a betting shop for the occasional Lucky 15.

One Q, from me. Can anyone advise or offer a view?

    Algorithms on betting accounts.

I’ve set my budget to bet a fixed amount for all 4 days at Cheltenham, via my online betting account. Normally, i’d transfer a fixed amount everyday or eve, before the races. Compared to most weeks or Saturdays the amounts will be more than normal on a weekday.
Anyone know if the algorithms will pick up on it and possibly produce a temporary ‘stop’ on my betting?

Secondly, i have a fair amount of dosh sitting in my betting account, after yesterday’s wins by the Nichols’ horses. By pure chance the total avail is my set budget for the 4 days. If i leave it in there and drip feed everyday to bet, does anyone think the algorithms wont pick it up that i’m betting more than usual each day?

So, is it ‘safer’ to bet from money already sitting in my betting account or is it best to transfer money each day from my bank account?
    Any views?

I can’t say for certain Wilts but I’ve done something similar to you so I’m assuming you’ll be fine. I’ve had monthly deposit limits of £10 set to my accounts for the past few months but last week upped them all to a fair bit more (but nothing crazy), I’ve been placing my bets over the past few days with no issues so far.

With regard to your money sitting in the account, I wouldn’t have thought it’d make a difference, however I can’t see it doing any harm using the money that’s sat there rather than depositing.

Just listened to a silly girl on “Luck on Sunday” saying punters being blocked from betting online is not entirely a bad thing because it will boost the on course market.

Yes, let’s drive lots of punters away from the game who may not want to go to the racecourse. Brilliant idea.

Of course, about two minutes earlier she was complaining about poor prize money…
