I’ve been on the hunt for a full-time (or permanent part-time) position in Ireland with which I can put what knowledge of racing I have to good use for around nine months now, with only moderate success. Moving to the U.K. is not an option, unfortunately, as it seems there are an abundance of interesting positions on offer across the pond. I have had some success writing freelance for various publications over the past six months, and was fortunate to gain some really good experience, however finding a longer term position has proved difficult.
More specifically I’m looking for something to do with race reading, or a junior trading position, but it’s been a case of close but no cigar up to now.
I’m sure there are plenty of us on here who are or have been in a similar boat. If anyone has any advice / suggestions / cigars, I would be most grateful!

Sorry about that, couldn’t resist.

Seriously, would it be necessary to move "across the pond" to become a race-reader of Irish racing for a UK publication?
In the era of the internet plenty of people work from home.
October 18, 2007 at 06:52 #120204i haven’t a clue but i take it you’ve tried turform : http://www.turform.ie/horses_to_follow.cfm ? the homeworking point is very valid these days, i enjoy it tho discipline is required as racing and poker is not what i’m paid for

the paddy power website seems to have a few jobs going : http://www.workwithpaddy.com/index.php/jobs
start at a and work to z, then start all over again, that’s what i’d do
