Let It Ride is good.
May 10, 2012 at 08:51 #403732Rainbow Jacket starring Robert Morley and Bill Owen is good, showing some good shots of Lingfield and a few other courses.
May 10, 2012 at 14:31 #403775In Carry On At Your Convenience, Sid James reads out lists of runners and his budgie cheeps when he gets to the winner.

I think I remember that. iF I remember correctly the Scottish trainer is supposed to break down on route to the course to bring about the two non runners in the bets but he lazily doesn’t bother leaving the yard in the horse box at all and it is this factor that ultimately brings the coup down.
October 4, 2021 at 22:40 #1562369Old thread I know but I did manage get shergar, and phar lap, watched ruffian heartbreaking that one
Of the newest now I’ve watched dream horse. Dark horse and also ride like a girl

October 4, 2021 at 22:58 #1562371There’s also Little Miss Marker where Walter Matthau plays a bookie who is given a child as collateral for a bet. I don’t remember too much about it other than a race scene where he has bribed every jockey to let the outsider win (rather than dope it to win with a drug that would result in the horse’s death) which I found quite amusing
October 5, 2021 at 06:09 #1562382Since posting earlier on this thread managed to get my hands on Phar lap and Champions through Amazon in DVD format and Dream Horse in streaming format.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.October 5, 2021 at 10:00 #1562387Glad you managed get then rr77
I loved dream horse. Wonder why Janet worked in co-op as till assistant though in it?
In dark horse was cleaner at asda which is her job and she still does I believe
Unless they thought be better for film wisevf x
October 5, 2021 at 12:07 #1562395It seemed like ages since I heard about Dream Horse, must have missed it cinema release or because of the pandemic it might have skipped that. First thing I saw it on the DVD shelf at Asda, so looked on my streaming services when I got home and bought it.
Can thoroughly recommend it.

Don't mess with mister in between.October 5, 2021 at 13:29 #1562400A very good film is Grand National Night (1953). Whilst there are no actual shots of the race itself it’s a fast-paced thriller with a twist at the end and it has great atmosphere.
Also you can now get cheap multi-region DVD players (try Amazon).
October 5, 2021 at 17:34 #1562417rr7 yes it was due for release cinemas but it was just as the pandemic started so it got put back. I think it did come in cinemas about Easter time, but was soon released on DVD etc. Oh yes it is a great film to
GM not heard of that one before will look for it thanks
