I was at Newton Abbot yesterday and think that the bumper could be one of the best bumpers ran during the summer season, and many winners are likely to come out of it.
The winner Supreme Serenade is a full sister to Supreme Prince and definitely looks one to follow (can’t believe I got 23/1 on the nanny goat;) )
The runner up Vingis Park caught the eye also and represents a stable who do well with the ammunition they have.
The third and fourth respectively (Accipiter and Gentle Beau) had solid placed form previously, the fifth Manly Money had ptp form and sixth placed Dislaughlin should do better in time being a full brother to Lord Sam.
May 1, 2003 at 10:32 #84705Couldn’t agree more!
May 14, 2003 at 09:59 #84706Gentle Beau runs in the last at Exeter today.
November 5, 2003 at 15:57 #84708Wild Oats who was ninth in the race won a novice hurdle at Exeter yesterday and Gentle Beau the fourth was in the process of giving Widemouth Bay a real run for his money when falling at the second last in the last on the card.
A winner without a penalty if his confidence isn’t affected.
Supreme Serenade is entered at Chepstow on saturday in the race won by her brother last year.
Accipter is also entered over the weekend.
November 18, 2003 at 16:08 #84710Accipiter won the last at Newton Abbot today at 7/1
November 20, 2003 at 15:12 #84713Supreme Serenade is due to make her hurdles debut at Exeter tomorrow, looks an interesting race but she has the weight allowances, so it will be interesting to see how she gets on
November 23, 2003 at 14:10 #84714Time will time but I feel she was far from disgraced to be beat by the useful Ashley Brook
Seventh in the bumper at Newton Abbot (also trained by Hobbs) Bertiebanoo had its first run since when winning the nov hurdle at Plumpton at 10/1 today.
December 1, 2003 at 10:59 #847152nd and 5th in the bumper Vingis Park and Manly Money are both due to run at Newton tomorrow and every chance they could both win.
December 1, 2003 at 15:45 #84717Hope they are not in the same race again then  [groan] sorry . i will keep a lookout for them tomorrow. good luck.;)
December 1, 2003 at 19:13 #84719Newton Abbot looking very likley to be abandoned:( 7.am inspection, but been raining all day and more to come so looks unlikley to go ahead.
December 4, 2003 at 15:39 #84721After the inevitable ababndonment of Newton on tuesday Manly Money will take on Accipiter at Exeter tomorrow
Fair to say they’ll do well to beat Bourbon Manhattan
December 15, 2003 at 11:28 #84723Supreme Serenade due to run at Folkestone tomorrow.
Decent flat performer Bobsleigh should ensure she gets a good test.
December 16, 2003 at 13:35 #84725Wish I’d done the forecast!!!!!
She looks decent based on that, not a bad novice race for the track
December 16, 2003 at 22:36 #84727Some people are never happy  Anyway at least you are top of the naps comp. .. for the moment ;)
December 17, 2003 at 00:03 #84728Hope so, although there is a long way to go and all someone needs to do is get a good priced winner to shoot up the leaderboard.
Anyway my nap tomorrow is the horse that on its one and only run finished second to Supreme Serenade in the bumper at Newton that this thread refers to.
Vingis Park
December 23, 2003 at 22:57 #84729Manly Money became the latest horse to come of the Newton bumper and win on saturday at Hereford
Less said about Vingis Park at Bangor the better (hope he just needed the race!)
January 22, 2004 at 14:29 #84730Accipiter continues on an upward curve after a couple more victories recently and Vingis Park shaped more encouragingly in a bumper behind one of Henry Daly’s the other day.
Gentle Beau looks one to avoid after a very disappointing run at Wincanton on Saturday.
Although Serenade was well beaten on News Years Day the runner up Alexanderthegreat won earlier in the week and the winner Copsale Lad is due to run at the weekend.
