A fatal fall at the final flight at Uttoxeter today. No one really to blame since he wasn’t pushed into the flight, but just didn’t seem to rise high enough. Though I have to say that I am a bit diasappointed about Holt not immediately realizing that the horse broke its neck. It was quite obvious, but it’s always nice to be optimistic and hope for the animal just to be winded.

    Rest in Peace Quiamo Malta

Oh, by the way: The winner (aged 9) won an auction race as a two year old worth 125k at Newmarket in 2005. Since then he lost his balls and is just about selling class over hurdles. Not really a NH horse, right???

I was there today, and indeed it was a heavy fall at the last flight. We knew straight away also, but at least he didn’t suffer, as it was very quick. RIP old boy.
I fear he was not the only loss on this day. We feared earlier in the second race for Boston Globe whom also fell at the last, albeit not as heavily, and thankfully he rose after being winded. But not such good news in the fifth race, when after the race, the well backed favourite (Dirleton) collapsed by the entrance to the parade ring, and we believe did not recover. And in the same race, the horse that finished third (Turbolinas), also left in a horse ambulance, but we think it was only injured. We have fingers crossed that he is alright.

What a dreadful day for those poor dear horses RIP Quiamo Molta, and all who fell or collapsed with a prayer for all of them.

It’s why I don’t go NH racing,I hate to see horses fall and injure themselves even though it has happened enough on the flat this year.

Judging by what I have read on here about the French racing and the way they treat fatalities at least the poor boy had some dignity in the manner he would have been taken from the scene.
