Fair comment.

That cant be good.
November 24, 2009 at 13:21 #260280Think we’d better snap up the 5s right now about Big Zeb winning before MM’s results come back.

Master Minded has drifted out to 3/1! Now we all know if Master minded turns up at Cheltenham in the same form he has done for the last 2 years,he wins!Trouble is if there is a problem,he will drift again.particularly if there is a clock to beat!Too risky for my liking,i am snaffling all the prices i can get on
Forpadydeplasterer
he is down to 10/1 now!
Mind you i still think the Ryanair is his race, now that Imperial will go for Gold!November 24, 2009 at 17:48 #260320Now we all know if Master minded turns up at Cheltenham in the same form he has done for the last 2 years,he wins!
If Well Chief turns up at Cheltenham fit & well then Master Minded is no certainty.

In a match,on all known form,1/3 Master Minded,5/4 Well chief!
11 yr olds dont win Champion chases Arazi!(Ok Moscow flyer did)

Daylight robbery
November 24, 2009 at 21:29 #260383Well Chief will not be winning the Champion Chase. Regardless of Master Minded there are plenty of others who will be improving past the Chief.
He could have been a champ but injury robbed him of that (and unseating when Fav 3 seasons ago!!)
November 29, 2009 at 08:40 #261114I know I’m in the minority in thinking that Well Chief could win the Champion Chase.
For me, his reappearence win in the Connought Chase showed that he retains enough of his old ability to be a major contender come March, as long as he avoids injury. Moscow Flyer’s victory in 2005 as an 11yo gives me hope that Well Chief can overcome his age as well. In the end it may too much to ask of the old horse with Master Minded in his prime but I still hold out hope!
When it comes to talk about Master Minded and Well Chief I don’t think the latter gets the respect that he deserves to be honest. I’ve read a lot over the past year or two about MM being in a different league to WC. I don’t agree with that at all when you look at what WC achieved back in 2004/2005. People seem to forget that as a 6yo this horse won the Victor Chandler Chase carrying top weight off a rating of 176, giving 20lbs to Thisthatandtother. With all the praise Denman has been getting (and rightly so) for his weight carrying performance in the Hennessy, I think it needs to be remembered that WC produced as good performance back then if not better.

Two wins and six seconds in his last eight races neither of those wins at beyond 2miles, big lazy so and so who idles when in front but ideal for 2miles round Cheltenham imo.

January 3, 2010 at 21:01 #267463Does anyone have an update on how Master Minded is at the moment?
Last I heard the horse had a rib problem and was getting that sorted with a view to running at Newbury in the same prep race for Cheltenham as the year before last…
How did the op go, and is that still the same plan?
If he goes to Newbury and shows he’s fit and well and over his problems I can only see him going odds on for Cheltenham and destroying the field again…
January 5, 2010 at 10:33 #267797Hmmm…Nicholls seemingly more hopeful than confident, not sure what to make of that?
January 11, 2010 at 13:20 #269274Any news on when Barker. Will race again heard nothing about him.
January 11, 2010 at 14:05 #269283I’ve not heard anything since Barker UR’d in the Durkan, but the Tied Cottage is scheduled for the end of the month, and he will hopefully get an entry in that.
I confess I’m not convinced the horse will run in the Champion Chase, or at the Festival at all – nearly all his runs have come at right-handed tracks.

Jaralosh,i just feel this horse would be suited to further as he gets older,i can see him running over 3m in the future, thats why i think the Ryanair fits as the perfect trip!
connections must rate his chances of upsetting Master minded,to be going for the Champion Chase,so long as he gets his goodish ground he will run a big race wherever he runs,he just cant go through soft ground the same way,he is a big powerful beast who is still improving! -
