I could look stupid come quarter 6 tomorrow but I think Quevega will be beaten tomorrow.
Both the mares have been given a form boost through L’unique and both get weight off the boys which could be crucial.
Their was a lot to like about Glens Melodys run in defeat behind Quevega and I think she is more than capable of running a big race again tomorrow. 20/1 in some places?!? Looks a good Each Way bet.
Having said that the opposition is tough, their is no denying Quevega is a superstar winning this and the Mares race at the Festival year in year out. However she is getting older and using the laws of probability she’s due a loss having won the last 9 races shes ran in. Laws of Probability never fail do they
?At Fishers Cross has run with credit the last twice, last time out finished second running with a shoe hanging off for most of the race, blown away by More of That and Annie Power the time before, jumping will need to be at its best, couldn’t rule him out.
Bog Warrior did well to catch Baily Green last time out, his jumping hasnt always been up to scratch when chasing, which is maybe why he’s been sent back over hurdles. Has won some good races over hurdles, 5th in a World Hurdle, not convinced with him on this ground and is one ill happily rule out.
Reve De Sivola has ability and was second behind Quevega here last year. Barry Geraghty and interesting jockey booking, could be dangerous if given a soft lead, which I don’t think he’ll get with possibly Knockara Beau pressing him.
Knockara Beau has surely had his day in the sun this season and can’t win this, similarly I don’t see Jetson, Mourad or Sadlers Risk getting involved.
Which leaves Fingal Bay, won a handicap at the festival off top weight which is no mean feet beating Pineau De Re think he won a decent race afterwards, the second Southfield Thearte also won next time out giving a fair bit of weight to and beating Polly Peachum a horse who easily brushed aside Mares Hurdle 3rd L’unique in her previous race. So the form stands up well, FB has had enough quality to beat Simonsig over hurdles and run Dynaste close to over fences, he has a good turn of foot and I think its possible he’ll improve. He’s my idea of the winner at a nice 6/1.
I’ll even give you all the tricast:
1. Fingal Bay.
2. Quevega.
3. Glens Melody.

Was a brave shout, but you called Quevega right. Thought Fingal would have fared better too, where do you reckon he’ll head next year?
