How do,
Here’s a quick note for anyone (and I know a few on here who might have been – GD? Mr Way De Solzen (7)? ) that was considering taking in either day of the PPORC two-day point-to-point meeting at Barbury Racecourse (next to Alan King’s place) this coming weekend.
The course is currently unraceable, and won’t be getting much less unraceable in the next few days, so the executive has already taken the early decision to postpone.
Thaw permitting, they’ll try again on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of January.
Meetings planned this weekend for Wadebridge (Cornwall) on Saturday, Higham (Suffolk) on Sunday and Lydstep (Dyfed) again on Sunday are still scheduled to go ahead as things currently stand.

HTH!

January 4, 2010 at 22:26 #267712Lydstep might just make it Jeremy, but Higham are getting the same weather as me at the moment and the grassy bits around here were still hard with rhime frost this evening when I went home. I would say no chance at all of Higham making it and no better than 60/40 Lystep and Ffos Las racing.
January 5, 2010 at 11:09 #267816Noted with thanks, Bob – a Sunday at Southwell looks increasingly likely (not a disaster, as none of my eight previous visits there have been for a Flat fixture), but let’s see what the rest of the week brings.

January 7, 2010 at 12:05 #268473Can confirm that ALL point-to-point action this weekend has now been canned. If Ffos Las couldn’t withstand the conditions, then near-neighbouring Lydstep was unlikely to, either.
Both it and Higham are therefore postponed for the second Sunday running, and Wadebridge the day before for the first time, but the hunts concerned with all three events are actively seeking alternative dates.
Barbury is still pencilled in to take place on January 16th and 17th without recourse to a second postponement, but I’d not be suprised if that gets knocked back again yet.
Meanwhile, the meeting on "the Easterbys’ back garden" at Sheriff Hutton planned for Sunday 17th has already been postponed to the 24th with the pointing authorities’ permission.
Full details on all weather and rescheduling matters will continue to be updated on http://www.pointtopoint.co.uk .
Cheers,
