…and that’s why Tax Free was dropped back down to 5f

Well done to his supporters; but with the other principals running no sort of race, and his having to be ridden right out to beat the modest Black Mambazo, I’d still maintain he’s better at 6f.
Undoubtedly an improved horse this season, but I wouldn’t even have him on my mind for a place, in a fast ground King’s Stand.

Hasn’t improved that much on that form on a line through Benbaun. He’s still to take on the big guns and no doubt he’ll find it a lot tougher. But the King Stand? Not that good a race that you could rule him out that easily.

He ‘s fast tough and can run up with the pace whether it’s 5 or 6 furlongs. Suffed last years winner on G/f. Must have a decent ew chance at least.

Surely a ho-hum sprinter like Tax Free couldn’t break the shackles and match it with Fleeting Spirit, Scenic Blast etc ???

I’ll give him credit for being in career best form, but he’s ahead in the markets of horses who could trounce him if on-song (Bushranger, Diabolical, even Mythical Flight).

    I won’t be hurrying to take 8/1.

That depends how you look at it.
He beat Benbaun half a length more, on 2lb worse terms, on a sharper track, over slightly faster ground in a race run at a slower pace. He also ran his highest ever RPR; I’d say he’s improved alright, but not enough to make him a gp1 horse at 5f.

Ditto. Trawling through the formbook, still cant find a decent horse (in form) that he’s beaten over 5f. Credit to the horse and connections though, he’s very consistent and they keep finding valuable, winnable races for him.

Wouldn’t have to be if the previous Group 1 winners in the race keep going the way they are going. We got the Aussie horse and which others, Equiano and M’Dor who have no chance and ?

Only for a bit of pattern race fun. Formbook out the window for the real stuff.
