Fist : I’d dismissed the Irish & UK 3-Y-Old generation months ago and just recently started leaning towards Youmzain, only by process of elimination, but Flying Cross appeals, he will need every yard of the trip and it wouldn’t suprise me if he went on and was allowed to steal a big lead though I doubt if that would happen under any other jockey than Seamie Heffernan…..when will the other jockeys learn …..how many times has he done it this season alone?
I’ll only be betting in "fish supper" stakes so nothing to lose by trying those two EW
September 28, 2010 at 12:10 #319857I think Cape Blanco would have to be given as quiet a ride as possible to outstay this lot. On that front they do at least have "Mr Quiet" engaged if the reports re Soumillon are correct. Nobody gives a potential non stayer a better ride. You’d think if they were planning on blazing away out in front that Mr Heffernan would have kept the ride. Hold up tactics look certain.
On the other hand Christophe can do a brilliant job from the front too, well at least over hurdles anyway
September 28, 2010 at 14:48 #319879Going to have a little bet on Youmzain i think.
Im sure he can be there or there abouts, again.
September 28, 2010 at 16:11 #319883I hope my old sparring partners right about
Workforce
getting the go ahead for Sunday as i see there is plenty of rain about in Paris over the weekend! Now before i come out with by big statement i would just like to let the 2 Girls blouses
Chiswickian
and
Mr Wilson
know i"m about to make a Kings speech,i dont want you pair to go weak at the knees.or even fall over and bruise your bottoms!
Workforce has broken the Course record on fast ground at Epsom,Magnifique! But he will be an even better horse on Soft ground! And yet he"s never ran on it!!!!!
Voila! The 2 big French guns Behkabad and Planteur are no slouches but the beast of a Grandson of Sadlers wells will blow them away! Your King has spoken!
September 28, 2010 at 16:14 #319884This is it. Horses for courses. Is Longchamp a course that favours horses that have run well there before such aws Cheltenham and Ascot?
Maybe FAG didn’t like the course.

Much as I admire your confidence I do hope you’ve got TWO speeches ready, the one you’ve no doubt already written and the one you’ll need to write if I’ve been right all along about your colt.
That said, good luck my friend, I doubt if I’ll be having more than pennies on the race so I can afford to let you win this one ………in the absence of my mare who we both know would have landed the spoils, maybe they’ll meet next year, on the track or at stud as they are both in the same ownership

It’s ok andy we knew you’re really Sir Michael Stoute

You’ll get no royal bowing or curtsying around here matey.
Wish you’d stop panicking TAPK
He’s already ready to run and his physical fitness is not an issue. Only thing that could stop him is some kind of medical problem like a snotty nose or whatever which is highly unlikely.
I see he’s having a blow first thing in the morning after which they’ll do the normal checks then it’s off to France unless the ground open up and swallows him
SMS must really care about us punters not wantingus to lose our hard earned cash if he were to withdraw him

In reality any one of the runners could do a Canford Cliffs and scope badly at the last minute or whatever, but the damage it would do to Workforce’s shed value if he had to run another stinker is what the real issue here.
SMS doesn’t make many mistakes so you can expect a huge run from him and there wont be a trainer there who would rather he didn’t run….Bar SMS of course.

You know i can be a bit of a Drama queen when the moneys down on a big one Sir! Deep breaths,in through the nose, out through the mouth…
September 28, 2010 at 19:33 #319926Am on Fame And Glory at 6’s.
Now taken 47/1 Cavalryman. Not had his conditions all season, 1m4f on good or softer. Ran a career best in this race last year. Stable in cracking form. Ran well enough in the International considering trip short of his best. Betfair price only a taouch bigger than bookies odds, which suggests is a planned runner.
Also had a little on Planteur. On form is only a pound (possibly two) behind Bekherbad. Aga’s horse has more scope for improvement so has a better chance. But there’s no way there should be that much difference in price (Becks 7/2, Planteur 13/2).
Shame the main bet is Harbinger!

Was that the 8 ponies you had with Big Bad Barry D Ginge?
You mean he"s stabled the lot of them? Geez no wonder they call him the Bismarck,he"s sunk your rigid raider!September 28, 2010 at 20:45 #319943Was hoping that everyone had forgotten about Cavalryman; that’s where my ew money is going but, alas, the 50/1 has gone now. Hope I can get 40/1 tomorrow. May have a bit on the Japanese horse as well.
September 28, 2010 at 21:24 #319951With the ground the way it is in France, I am surprised that Behkabad is not shorter, proven with an ease in the ground and should improve for the his win in the Prix Niel. Despite winning the Derby on a road, Workforce’s form to date is on surface no worse than good, and people can bang on that he will be better suited by a softer surface, but sorry I don’t buy that theory.
As for the rest, I think F&G’s form this season is short of top class, he also missed his prep. Cape Blanco is better over 10f and I cannot see the him going on the ground, if he does he is a freak.
Again, Behkabad for me.

September 28, 2010 at 22:49 #319966For only his 4th race Flying cross ran a blinder against some very good older horses in the Irish St.Leger. I will be looking for him to step up on that if he runs.

I must have looked at him 10 times. He was betwen 200 and 400 Mo and I kept wondering what’s Frankie going to ride. Then I read something about him going to Australia which is probably why he was so big.
His trip abroad doesn’t inspire confidence but he stood out like a sore thumb in the Coranation Cup and I thought a win was just around the corner.
Maybe it’s just my suspicious mind but up until he went to Germany I thought they were at it and he was being trained for one race only.
Still could cause an upset but gut feeling isn’t good so after some thought I have decided to give him a miss.
Saver for me will now be Youmzain who on Arc form should actually win this easily. Probably would if he wasn’t Youmzain
