I’m certain these ‘world class jockeys’ don’t know as much as Heffernan about So You Think.
September 17, 2011 at 17:03 #371223Your certainty is reassuring.I can relax now.
September 17, 2011 at 17:06 #371224Good to know.

September 17, 2011 at 17:57 #371241Anyone think Sheikh Mo will risk one of his decent 3 year olds; French Navy, Dubai Prince or Casamento in this now that they have all made successful comebacks ?
If he did I suspect it would be French Navy as he is furthest forward in his rehabilitation.
Not many Arcs in the past 20 years that Sheikh Mo hasn’t had a runner representing him.
Maybe;
Dubai Prince – Champion Stakes
Casamento – QE II
French Navy – ArcSeptember 17, 2011 at 21:08 #371248If they were looking to replace Seamie, I would expect them to look for a French based jockey, Soumillon might have been in contention but suspended, although a certain Derby winning jockey on a Coolmore horse would be an interesting alternative.
Mikael Barzalona is a jockey of precocious talent but whether Coolmore could lure him away from Godolphin is another matter.
September 18, 2011 at 04:52 #371256They at Coolmore need to be thinking about the BC and what jockeys they intend to use.Would an American jockey be better than a "ride out" Irish jockey? I believe he might. The jockey who rode the Derby winner would do? Why not if he does not have a ride.I would not use Queally, he lacks the spark of originality required to be the best.Or perhaps he need to ride for an outside operation to show his talent. How about the Australian jockey who rode SYT in Australia?I believe this situation calls for the utmost attention. Finally I keep returning to Fallon. Aidan likes him and Tabor likes him but is that enough to get the key ride? I dont know.He also won the BC for Stouty some years ago.
September 18, 2011 at 05:57 #371257In hindsight, a daft post above.
Cannot see Godolphin taking on Frankel with Casamento again over a mile.
September 20, 2011 at 21:54 #371517Could So You Think still be ‘acclimatising’ over here and will be a better horse next year if he stays in training? There was a horse whose name escapes me that ran well at Cheltenham the other year and the trainer said it took him a while to find his feet here, and that was only coming from across the channel. Either way, I’m chuffed that he’s running as I’ll get to see him!
Rippling Ring? Paul Nicholls was adamant he needed time to get used to the UK climate (bought from South Africa). I would say that is the horse you refer to above?
September 21, 2011 at 11:49 #371561It was Othermix..came second to Copper Bleu in the Jewson at @ 40/1. Tipped up by someone on here as well, so I backed it.
September 21, 2011 at 20:51 #371599I wouldn’t completely throw out St Nicholas Abbey’s chances if he runs in the Arc.
Aidan claimed to be reasonably happy with the Prix Foy run and that SNA needed it after the 2 month break. That seems to make sense since he ran a shocker first-up this year.
I just realized that he hasn’t struck a race with a true pace this year. He sprinted decently enough when they crawled in the King George, so a strong pace might give him a chance. He’s still a bit unexposed in this regard, and most agree he seems like he’d be better over further so it should help.
I just watched last year’s Arc again. Even in Hong Kong, Japan is known to be very poor at developing jockeys (some may remember Vodka in Dubai) despite their great bloodstock. Can you imagine the outcry if a European horse lost the Arc by a head under a jockey who rode the finish like the one on Nakayama Festa?
Put a Ryan Moore clone or a top jockey on Nakayama Festa and I wonder if the Japanese horse might have scraped in.

Ye,
Just like the Aussies, they haven’t got any good ones either. Steven Arnold left it too late in the Kings Stand, more forceful ride might have got Star Witness up. And too soon in 6f Jubilee. On a horse with 5f pace and going best of all in a strongly run affair, decided to go for home earlier than necessary, putting too strong an emphasis on stamina.Sorry, couldn’t resist,
Of course Australia has top jockeys, so does Japan, Hong Kong, USA, France, GB and I etc. They’ve just got different styles. It is difficult for any jockey away from his/her normal turf/dirt/synthetic.Value Is EverythingSeptember 22, 2011 at 17:00 #371673st nic would look verrrrrrrry once paced in this Arc, gonna be good ground anyway
do the Japs EVER win this race?
guess notSYT v Galikova
should be some race
September 22, 2011 at 19:06 #371682Heffernan on So You Think in the Arc
It’s official!
James Anthony Heffernan will be the jockey of So You Think Arc de Triomphe in 2011. It had led to success during his last two outings (Eclipse Stakes and Irish Champion Stakes). So You Think is one of five favorites of the event and depends on the training of Aidan O’Brien.September 22, 2011 at 19:46 #371689Seems funny that he was in doubt for the race…
SYT that is!
At least a month ago on ATR a viewer from OZ emailed Boyce and said that they were coming having booked tickets – to come and watch him win the Arc!
Seems that despite the distance – news – in some circles travels fast!
September 22, 2011 at 22:36 #371710I just cannot believe that Seamie is the best available on the day. A sad day for Coolmore when that is the best that they can come up with. From two five horse races to the ArC with twenty four of the best in Europe.Holy mackerel is that how we go after taking the horse from Australia all the way to Paris to use a work rider in the ArC.If he wins I will cry with joy otherwise I will just cry.
