I know very early it is but what horses can you see being in the big race near the end of the year.Apart from Maxios who are the best French 3yos.
I already had a bet on RECITAL at 25s with Paddy Power to win this race.I think he be best AOB 3yo this year.Though i think So You Think may turn up as well.
Can Workforce win it again.Or how about Carlton House,Snow Fairy
What you guys think.
I’ve mentioned it elsewhere but Barocci wins the Arc – finished 2nd in a race for unraced colts on the same card that Maxios won the Prix Thomas Byron on (I was there for it). Impressed me with his fnishing kick and the way he travlled throughout the race, the winner flew that day and he was only second but he won a listed race last week back at Saint-Cloud and goes to a Group 3 at Longchamp next.
Maxios, Recital, Barocci could all be contenders, but so much will depend on how the 3yo season develops. At this point, we have a much better idea about the older horses, and I would say Workforce & Sarafina both have excellent chances, and will clearly have their programmes focused on arriving at Longchamp on Oct 2nd at their best. At this point, I feel Workforce will definitely be placed. Stoute has such a phenomenal record with his older colts. On the other hand, ARD has not had such great luck with his 4yo fillies, and Sarafina is a bit more of a risk.

People will need more than luck chasing Arc winners among 4yo mares and older horses. The stats don’t inspire me in relation to Stoute and the Arc. Looks another good year for a 3yo unless So You Think is exceptional.
I think it will take something very special to beat Workforce, he’s a big scopey horse and always looked like he would improve for another year on him.
Maxios last of 5. Haven’t seen the race but he finished roughly 3 1/4L behind the winner (Baraan).
I saw the race, they race at a crawl which led to a sprint finish.
Would not have suited Maxios or Pour Moi – Lingfield Derby Trial next for both of them?
I didn’t see many two year-olds last season who I immediately thought would be serious contenders in OPEN middle distance races, but something is bound to come out the woodwork, and maybe even
Frankel
may be more of a stayer than a miler.
But despite three year-olds having a far better record than the older horses, you can’t ignore the fact that it’s very likely
Workforce
will have improved enormously from three to four.
Stoute has a few interesting three year-old maidens to go to war with this season, with the best of those on pedigree being owned by Ballymacoll Stud. They are
Tonnerre
,
Dumbarton
and
Fiorente
, and all hold entries in the Derby and Irish Derby, which is normally a good indicator, and I believe they will all be beginning their campaigns shortly.
Along with the ones you have mentioned, I think a horse that should not be forgotten is
Silver Pond
, who despite dissapointing today, will be seen to much better effect when held up next time out in the Prix Ganay. Looked sure to be one of the best of his ‘Classic generation’ last season before being hit with an injury, and in all starts bar today where he was forced to make the running, he has showed a fantastic turn of foot. I imagine after the Ganay he will be stepped up in trip, and no matter what price he is in the Arc if he gets there, I will be backing him, as the nature of the race will suit him ideally!

I believe So You Think is exceptional,i think the perfect horse for the Arc.The best since Kingston Town i believe and most likely better,would have seemed like a formality to have won 3 Cox Plates if he hadn’t gone to Ireland.

I watched the French races and Maxios was poor to say the least. He did look a tad gross in condition but has a lot to find for mine. They did crawl before a sprint but the winner performed with merit given that he was initially headed by the highly fancied Prairie Star before drawing away on the line. Baraan deserves credit for a good, gutsy performance. Pour Moi was way too keen. He might do better setting his own speed in similar races.
Planteur simply had the run of the race behind the leader, Soumillon blew the whistle and he never left the rail to scoot away. He’ll win ten furlong races run that way time and time again. Silver Pond has a fair bit to find. Fitness was on his side but Silver Pond was outsprinted by a handy but far from outstanding galloper in Agent Secret on ground that should have favoured the former.
Baraan is the only one I’d hold onto as much of an Arc hope.

Both things I was hoping for have happened.
1) They’re out so my Friday night isn’t just spent playing G1 Jockey 4 (yes, my life really does revolve around horse racing)
2) Wonder of Wonders has an entry but Together doesn’t. Shows you the regard in which she’s held. She’ll win the Oaks.
If Andre Fabre is entering an unraced filly in the Arc (Insoumise) then I reckon she is one to back whenever she makes her debut.
More difficult to discern trainer opinions for the 2 big yards (Ballyd & Godolph), since they have entered everything in their respective yards with 4 legs.
