Tactics is a worry. But Auguste Rodin probably needs a truly run race to be fully effective at 10f on good-firm… And Inspiral may not stay 10f in a truly run race on a stiff track. So can only see them going quick, at least until approaching the home turn. Then slowing before upping it again in the straight.
More of a worry is that Inspiral’s asset is her speed / turn of foot. Gosden has said at home she’s showing she may now need 10f… But if that is the case – if she’s lost some speed – she simply may have lost some of her greatest asset.
I don’t think it is a two horse race. Alflaila has good form and was progressive up to last season’s Irish Champion. Not run for a long time but has an exceptional record fresh. His best form isn’t that far behind the two principals.
Some might think Horizon Dore wants soft judging by his win record, but one of his very best performances was when 3rd in the Champion Stakes. Good course form.
Blue Rose Cen would be interesting at her best and should be more prominent than a lot of these. But the change of stables is a massive negative.
Lord North has form good enough to place here, but seems on the downgrade at his age.
Zarakem’s stand out performance is on softer ground and doesn’t look up to this grade.
Inspiral may have company out the back, as Alflaila, Zarakem and Horizon all like to be nearer the back early.

Now 4/1 on the machine!
Does the stable think she is not the horse of old?

Agree Ginger. I am very tempted to back her because she is a big price on her best form and there are significant doubts about the two at the head of the market. But that stable switch is a worry.
June 19, 2024 at 16:06 #1698683On the tele they said Auguste Rodin would be the first Derby winner to win this since 1968.
June 19, 2024 at 16:16 #1698684Backed Blue Rose Cen despite the doubts. She is too big a price to ignore.
June 19, 2024 at 16:29 #1698685When he’s good, he’s very good.
Hans Anderson was clearly not going to get in his way!
June 19, 2024 at 16:30 #1698686wd winners. The result looked inevitable once Inspiral was last off a fast pace and AR ideally placed.
June 19, 2024 at 16:33 #1698687No wonder Aidan didn’t use Diego as a pacemaker
both Pacemakers should be banned for not running to their merit
well done winners especially Stilvi who I think had 7’s
O’Brien has a great book of runners over the next 3 days. Could he rack up double figures? possibly not, but I think he could get close

Was a massive fan last season but jumped ship today after he’d already downed two accas on me this season.
Shoemark
June 19, 2024 at 16:34 #1698689Inspiral might have gone at the game but Shoemark must have thought he was on the reincarnation of Pegasus to try to win from that far back.
June 19, 2024 at 16:38 #1698691Cork,
He looked half asleep on her when everyone knows she’s sluggish at the stalls.
Should’ve been doing more to get her away.June 19, 2024 at 16:41 #1698692Knew Inspiral was beaten as soon as she left the stalls…She would have been expected to sprout wings with from that position.
Sorry but Kieran Shoemark is not the jockey for this horse she really needed Frankie Dettori on board and even then she would probably not have beaten Auguste Rodin but would have been
closer ..Guess she’ll be off to stud pretty soon now and Kieran Shoemark, well she’s a tough ride, I think he’s too nervy.Well done all Auguste Rodin backers .. Ryan Moore is just top class. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 19, 2024 at 16:46 #1698694Gosden blaming it on lack of stamina. I can’t have that. It was a poor run under a poor ride.
June 19, 2024 at 16:49 #1698696lack of stamina…. He put her in the race
why did he take her out of the Queen Anne? A lack of paceBlackbeard to conquer the World
June 19, 2024 at 16:50 #1698697Here here Cork…no excuses this time,
Shoemark definitely not the man for the the job.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 19, 2024 at 16:50 #1698698Inspiral was in no worse a position than Horizon Dore.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
June 19, 2024 at 16:52 #1698699Shoemark didn’t learn a damn thing from Newbury and it really annoys me that jockeys (in general not just him) seem to think that a hold up horse needs to be dropped in right out the back of the field and sometime miles off the pace.
You can’t give a 6 time G1 winner like AR a 10L+ headstart and think you are going to get involved at the business end. Any chance Inspiral had literally went within a dozen strides of the start of the race – some might say that she has ‘gone’ but at no point in either of her two races has she actually been given even a sporting chance of winning the race.
At most she should have been just a few lengths off AR and while the outside draw was not kind to her dropping her that far back means she has to use her speed just to get onto the heels of the leaders that are also quickening.
Gosden has just blamed the trip at that pace, so it looks like a drop back to 8F is on the cards and he even mentioned running against just her own sex.
