Elvis Mail looks just too big a price here at 14-1, and he knows this place well

For me – the market drift for Monbeg Genius showed he probably needed it today after quite some time off and the Grand National being his target. Wouldn’t be too hard on him, HDLG. The close thirds in the Ultima and Coral Cup were actually improvements in his form, so can’t really call that “disappointing”. What I would say is his jumping does not look good enough for Aintree, even allowing for the fences being easier these days.

My theory about Thunder Rock best fresh was clearly crap. Probably more to do with not liking Cheltenham but still wonder whether he’s best is in smallish fields.

Great to see Minella Drama back in good form with the tongue tie.

Aye Right has been a good servant to the yard, but more evidence of gradually on the downgrade now.
