Two treble suggestions to whet appetite for this weekend’s games
Probable Treble (ie higher probability or hunch! One champ. match max)
Chelsa 5/6 away to Crystal Palace
West Brom 3/4 home to Swansea
Man City 4/11 home to Man Utd (Sunday)
Coral Odds 100/30
Possible Treble (very speculative in this case!)
Burnley 7/5 away to Cardiff
West Ham 19/20 home to Wolves
Leicester 3/4 home to Notts Forest (Monday)
Coral Odds 7/1 +
Apparently there are 18 other alternative trebles in the six matches above
Would any of the resident football shrewdies like to call a treble from these 6 or indeed from any of the weekend Premier and Championship matches?September 30, 2022 at 10:36 #1616367Good luck Zizal…
I wouldn’t be confident of any of them individual matches… Seems a tricky set of fixtures off the back of a International break and the break to pay respect to the Queen. I’m keeping stakes to a minimum this weekend
City look the banker but United are a different kettle of fish at the moment. City should prevail but it wouldn’t come as shock if United can get a couple of goals. I’m looking at the over 3.5 and 4.5 in that one.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 1, 2022 at 10:21 #1616505Treble Challenge still open to other guessers as well as shrewdies – one Championship match allowed but not mandatory. Trying to establish a treble is a good route to honing in on the critical matches for betting opportunities.
Nathan, Agree about goals in the Manchester derby. Could be 3-1 or 4-1 to City as I think Utd on the contrary have had their weaknesses exposed in recent games. West Ham probably the weakest link in my six because of their poor goal scoring record but if they can’t put one past Wolves at home they really are in trouble.
October 5, 2022 at 13:31 #1617448The two Championship teams let me down last weekend and the coming weekend looks more difficult and only one treble will be attempted. The best of the mid-week bets may be tonight so I’ll dabble in a small 2/1 double while watching Chelsea.
Watford 4/5 home to Swansea – taking on the Swans againt! Hope Watford can handle their potent forward threat
Burnley 4/6 home to Stoke2/1 Ladbrokes
The QPR Reading Sky match on Friday looks like it may be an entertaiing afair. Worth researching and forming a view on.
October 7, 2022 at 22:50 #1617727I got a headache “researching” tonights’s QPR game this afternoon and my thinking was inconclusive. My initial thoughts were that playing Norwich City three days earlier was a not a good preparation for a Loftus Road duel, as Reading seem to have learned to their cost. Why are there 24 teams in the English 1st Division anyway!
Asking the London clubs to deliver me a home treble this weekend
Chelsea 2/5 v Wolves
Crystal Palace 21/20 v Leeds (Sun)

Arsenal at Leeds -2 8/15

October 18, 2022 at 12:46 #1619006Worth going for a speculative 11/2 shot for this midweek round
St James Park not the ideal place to go for Everton to regain confidence
Leeds should ease their relegation worries and make their superior passing game tell at LeicesterTreble Call > 11/2 William Hill
Liverpool 2/5 V W. Ham
Newcastle 8/13 V Everton
Leeds 2/1 AT LeicesterChelsea may not bust a gut to keep a clean sheet in physical encounter at Brentford while admittedly the 4/7 in the second game is miserly
BTTS Double Chance > 7/4 W. Hill
Brentford v Chelsea 4/5
Man U v Tottenham 4/7October 21, 2022 at 23:13 #1619490The Leeds Utd Mid-Week Comedy Act would make most give football betting up for a game of soldiers but I’m made of sturdier stuff I’ll persevere until the World Cup break anyway.
Chelsea have been been playing within themselves in recent games and I expect them to up their game for their Man U visitors and edge out the opposition but 6/5 is far too short where a draw is also a likely outcome. West Ham though worthy favourites are far too short too.
One treble selection has to be a bit of a gamble and represent value and this weekend it’s Everton to stop the rot and haul in the Palace attack. Palace have enough attacking flare to avoid the relegation zone this year but in terms of collective football intelligence they’re in the bottom three IMHO. Tottenham will want to bounce back in front of their home fans too.
TREBLE CALL 6/1 (Coral)
Liverpool 2/7 at Notts Forest
Everton 13/8 v Crystal Palace
Tottenham 11/10 v NewcastleOctober 28, 2022 at 22:23 #1620685So to the Guesser’s weekly stab in the Premier League darkness in pursuit of a winning treble……….
Its a process of elimination!
Leicester Man city – too one sided
Palace Saints – Palace too unpredictable, could go anyway
Gunners Forest – prohibitivly one sided
Brighton Chelsea – Chelsea 1.3 available does not reflect class gulf between these two teams. Do punters believe Thamesiders may not bring their A game to the seaside? Leaving alone this weekSpurs were a little unlucky last week in not getting an early break and goalie Lloris had the proverbial shocker. Spurs feel obliged to play like they are a top 4 team at home. Doing so last week with so many absences was silly! The Bournemouth air though should be more salubrious and they should account for their prosaic hosts by 1 or 2.
Everton produced some wonderful cameo goal-scoring moments last week against some poor Palace opposition. From the brief bits I caught it seemed an otherwise scrappy affair. Fulham are a lot more organised and can score one more. Toffees would probably settle for a draw with easier Leicester and Bournemouth ties next. On paper a dull prospect but has the potential to be an entertaining competitive Saturday evening heat.
Newcastle an obvious third choice over Villa – perhaps a bit too obvious! Magpies by 2 but not always converting supremacy into goals!
Treble Call < 6/1 W. Hill
Tottenham 4/6 at Bournemouth
Newcastle 4/5 V Villa
Fulham 13/10 V Everton (5.30 on Sky)and the “B” team Treble Chance 3.7/1 (General)
Brentford 6/5 V Wolves
Liverpool 2/7 v Leeds
Man U 4/6 v W Ham (Sunday 4.15)November 4, 2022 at 23:42 #1621636Penultimate week and I should really be playing it conservatively but scrambling a treble hope together this weekend is difficult. Normally I’d have thrown Utd in straight away (23/20 AT Villa) but last week’s performance v the Hammers in the Museum of Dreams left a sour taste what with the faffing about at an early goal-scoring opportunity and generally playing around like a bunch of Prima Donnas as if it was necessary to re-invent the wheel to beat a mid-table team. A Bryan Robson or Roy Keane definitely needed!
This week’s leap of faith rests with Leeds in the 3pm home ko V Bournemouth. Bournemouth are not the most agile team in the league and if Leeds can get among them early on their home support should carry them home by one. (i.e. somewhat confident) 3/4 odds is admittedly far too short though.
Best value in my book are Everton at 11/8 welcoming Leicester for the Sky evening match. They passed a fair test last week at Fulham with the defence looking particularly together and the team generally seem to be in a good place. Margin of one or two hopefully (i.e. reasonably confident) Would be Win to Nil territory if Leicester were not prolific enough themselves!
Match of the weekend likely to be Sunday evening’s Liverpool visit to Tottenham. If the reds play to level of their previous London encounter at Arsenal a month ago I see no reason why they cant secure victory by 1.
Guesser’s Treble Call < 8/1 W. Hill
Leeds 3/4 v Bournemouth
Everton 11/8 v Leicester Sat 5.30
Liverpool 23/20 AT Tottenham Sun. 4.30Chelsea V Arsenal has a draw look about it. Throw in an ungodly 12 noon Sunday atmosphere-busting start makes it probably even more likely. Chelsea seem to have been coasting it through October perhaps playing a long game and may find difficulty upping their game to Arsenal’s technical standard. Arsenal’s honest craft may outdo Chelsea’s lazy graft so a 1 pt 17/20 Arsenal Win DNB should help my concentration!
November 12, 2022 at 00:17 #1622617Last chance saloon to manage a second treble so I intend to bend my rules and include the local Irish Cup final (FAI) which takes place at 3pm Sunday as the “booster” component of my treble.
Derry City are justified 1/2 favs against Damien Duff’s newly promoted Shelbourne. The consensus is that the “Candy Stripes” are mentally and physically tougher than “Shels” who will need to strenghten their team to consolidate premier league status for a second year. Many of these finals go to extra time but I expect fatigue to be a factor in the second half so Paddy Power’s 6/5 for 2.5 overs appeals.
For the “good thing” component of my treble I’m choosing Tottenham 4/6 over Leeds for the Sat 3pm kick off. It’s a game Spurs will need to control throughout to win. Leeds would thrive in an end-to-end kick-about.
A sensible person might finally select Arsenal away to Wolves 11/20 for a respectable 3/1 treble but a funny 7.45 Saturday night KO might just produce a funny result and I like to be more ambitious!
I have no real sense about the games at Forest or Brighton. W. Ham Leicester is most likely to produce goals but I wouldn’t like to call the winner. Chelsea may prioritise not losing after recent disappoinments at St James’s Park and a draw looms large there for me.
This leaves a difficult choice for me of selecting Everton 31/20 at Bournemouth or Fulham 3/1 to upset Utd. On reflection I feel the Blues might settle for a draw and count on some easy games in January to kick-start again their season and escape the relegation zone.
If unfashionable Fulham (the third “gamble” component of treble) test Utd like they tested Everton recently they can make a mockery of the 3/1 on offer. Utd have their personnel issues and their recent form is not great – they do ship goals away from home. Da Gea may have a few inches on Pickford but does not have his reflexes and is just a little past his prime. The 4.30 Sunday encounter wont disappoint.
Treble Call 9/1 Ladbrokes
Tottenham 4/6 V Leeds Sat. 3pm
Derry City 1/2 V Shelbourne (Irish Cup final) Sun. 3pm
Fulham 3/1 V Man. Utd. Sun. 4.30BTW 16/1 general available for Everton / Tottenham / Fulham but I’m not that crazy!
