    A couple at Cork today

2.20 Cask Mate 14-1 ew- goes well fresh
2.55 Aione 7-2 win- tongue might help him a lot, has gone well in his past couple of starts and weakened late on

Away from the main event, my fancies today are all Mullins shorties so I’ve gone for a Lucky 15 on Blood Destiny, Asterion Forlonge, Easy Game and Ile Atlantique.

Blood Destiny made a hash of the last couple and was probably flat from Cheltenham , but two of the others have obliged leaving me ahead for the day, so I’ll try Russian Diamond ew at Cork.

Had a nice return from Vadsa Queen and What Path double (though nowhere near as much as the treble with Continuous if it had come off, at least he didn’t get beaten a short head!)

So got some for Listowel tomorrow
2.50 Humanitarian- trainer had a winner today, this one was good on the flat
3.50 Glan- likes good ground, yard in form and needs to go up a few lb to get in the Galway hurdle again so the stage is set. 10-1 ew 4pl
4.20 Easy Game. Trip, ground, small field, in he goes again
4.50 Russian Diamond- form not as good at the favourite and a bit slow through the air now, but he’s a cliff horse of mine, can’t not have a token 50p on
5.20 Kinbara. Yard’s horses often go well on good and this one won on it last year, bred to appreciate step up in trip, also has entry in much more valuable race on Wednesday. Only negative is slight drop off in stable form, with one stablemate NR for coughing today.

Again, the last leg of a treble (Kinbara) comes unstuck, though even with a smoother passage he wouldnn’t have beaten the winner who looks good. Ew single on Glan and double with her and Easy Game yielded a nice little return though so I’ll put a few buttons on a Southwell double tomorrow- outsider of 3 BBold in the first (has course form- albeit in races that fell apart- likes the ground and has Cobden on top who is on a ruthless hunt for winners to win the championship) with Limerick Leader in the second.

I missed the start of Russian Diamond’s race, which is just as well, saw him walking back after his fall so hopefully ok.

Haven’t posted on this thread in ages but trying to amuse myself while tidying the house, so will be frittering 50p bets away left right and centre this afternoon.
    First of all

    12.55 Ain Pink Legend
likeable mare, she and Zambella should be closer in the betting

All too easy for Zambella. That’s two on the card for the Twiston Davies stable- Undersupervision defintely worth a look in the big race. No bet in the novices’ hurdle at Navan but there are some good horses in there.

    1.30 Ain War Lord 11-2
Wind op has helped him and race fit.

2.49 Ain Knight of Allen 9-1 ew
Stable often have a nice juvenile or two and I think Lizzie Kelly has a decent eye as a buyer.

    Thanks Bobby.
Will be watching the next at Navan with interest- Indiana Dream really caught my eye last year but might need the run, and the experience. I’m going with the race fit horse

    2.52 Nav Saint Felicien 11-4

Very good from Indiana Dream considering he drifted, got an educational ride and possibly was a bit fat (couldn’t see clearly enough).
Knew my fate when SF was being ridden into the 2nd last and Mark Walsh just sitting there.

Great card at Punchestown tomorrow, some horses I’m really looking forward to seeing out.

    12.00 Arctic Bresil 11-2
I like Firm Footings and will definitely bet him again this season but I think he could do with, well, firmer footings and another half mile. Arctic Bresil has bundles of ability, made for chasing and hopefully has got over last year’s issues. Can’t believe he’s the price he is.

12.30 Embassy Gardens 11-8. Being a Shantou the ground should suit and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s had a wind op. I like Cool Survivor too but he has been turned out fairly quickly and I wonder if he is mark fishing already.

1.00 No bet as Blizzard of Oz couldn’t manage the weight of my money last year, but I’ll be watching him closely. Might be difficult to organise over a hurdle perhaps? Not sure.

    2.00 Jetara 9-2
Surprised to see she was this price so had a go. Got her act together last time and she has scope to improve.

    2.30 Elixir d’Ainay 15-8
He’s alive! Token bet for old times sake. I hope he kicked Asterion Forlungealloverplace when they were out in the field a few summers ago. Mind you it was Mark Walsh’s fault for going up on AF’s outside jumping a hurdle. The dope. As long as his jockey doesn’t throw him under another runner or a passing bus, Elixir might have retained enough ability to cope with this lot.

I’m excited about this lot especially Arctic Bresil. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

Very disappointed with Arctic Bresil. He didn’t jump especially well and folded- maybe tired in the ground, but I still expected a better showing especially jumping. I’ll leave him alone for now. I was impressed with Firm Footings though- a fine horse not helped by being bumped which perhaps cost him the race. Definitely bwtting him in future.
Embassy Gardens, Jetara and Elixir were good- I would be very interested if Elixir ran in that beginners chase that Barry Connell seems convinced Marine Nationale just has to turn up to collect, but no idea what the plans are.

One of my BANC horses, Grey Dawning, is out tomorrow. Main bet on him, got a token ew on Fury Road who I think could suit the XC, and an even more token one on Storm Control in the old lags’ race.

That was a nice price on Jetara, I would definitely have taken that if I’d seen it. Good day all round, played

Thanks Bobby, yesterday put me back in my box though! Grey Dawning’s run was OK, and he’ll be on a reasonable mark now but he will need it…if that’s the best novice chaser Skelton can muster then meh. I was quite hopeful for him going left handed again but it all seemed like quite hard work for him. I wonder if he will become a project for big handicaps next year.

Missed the veteran race but did watch the XC and belatedly remembered my resolution not to pick anything up off the Gigginstown scrapheap. Poor Fury Road, he was trying to jump them like normal fences and getting further and further behind. I thought Galvin’s run was good and Minella Indo showed a bit of enthusiasm as well which was nice to see.

Got a double with O’Moore Park who should do well over this trip, and the well related El Fabienne in the bumper.
