I was quite impressed with Il Ridoto today. I assume he will run here. 10/1 is fair enough but probably just as well to wait until the day.

Of course, it will not be a surprise if there is an Irish plot job lurking somewhere.

I thought he was given a cracking ride yesterday.

I wonder what mark he will be on come Tuesday morning?

Agree ID. I backed him and thought Cobden was superb. He really has come of age this season. The first jockey to nail down the Nicholls job since Walsh departed.

I’ve just noticed that a horse I like, Mars Harper, is running at Leopardstown shortly. I’ve thrown a little on him at 16s NRNB here.

    Battleoverdoyen EW @ 56/1 NRNB

Price seems to be going a bit and got a nice little boost from Billies on the price just now.

Ran quite well in the Galway plate and a very good run at Gowran Park over this trip off a higher mark. If he could reproduce that run at Gowran then he has got to have a cracking EW chance in this race.

Does anyone know the intended target of Hollow Games? I’d be interested in backing him for this but there are no odds available on the exchange which makes me think he may be going elsewhere?

Hoolow Games going to the Arkle

War Lord 20/1 looks interesting here, no bets yet but was only 11 lengths behind Edwardstone in the Arkle last year, was a respectable 10 lengths second in the 2m4f G1 novice chase at Aintree after that, has form on all goings and looks to have been campaigned this year with this race in mind, a mark of 144 looks very nice.

Mars Harper is a longer price now than he was when I backed him. I dare Paddy Power to do the same with my next bet, my wee pal Gevrey. He’s 100-1. EW 5 places. He won’t have the assistance of Davy Russell but I think the little horse might be better than he has shown so far.

I think going back down in trip is crucial for Escaria Ten, and I think 33’s is very fair.

Same price Celebre D’Allen, who ran well in this last years race, and is a few pounds lower

Midnight River looks bigger than I thought too at 10’s

    Celebre D’Allen 33’s
    Escaria Ten 33’s

I’m going for a home winner here with Two For Gold around the 40/1, 50/1 mark. He’s an ew bet at those odds.

    Datsalrightgino my win bet

Midnight river and stolen silver for me.

One and 2 in the paddy power on New Year’s Day and they both looked to have plenty of puff left in them that day.

So many interesting runners here. Global Citizen proved today that is possible to repeat a big race without showing much during the rest of the season. So I have to go with last years winner and the real course specialist Coole Cody. Haute en Coulours is the class horse in the race and with Michael O’Sullivan claiming a few pounds as well I think he is on a winnable mark. War Lord is an old favourite of mine and I still think he has a big race in him over this course and distance. Finally added the outsider Born by the Sea. Ran here last year as well and is a lot better off in the weights.

    Haute En Couleurs 9/1
    War Lord 20/1 EW
    Coole Cody 25/1 EW
Born By The Sea 100/1 EW

I see Gevrey has been smashed into 80s already with Paddy Power. I fully expect to be severely restricted for beating SP ;-)

Frero Banbou for me, but a worry that Venetia’s horses arent exactly in good form.

Very unoriginal but I’ve gone for So Scottish.
