October 19, 2005 at 17:21 #60832Hi FHL,
Good luck with this, I’ve had a little play around with BF’s place betting before and never had too much joy, so I wish you well.
I was, however, surprised to see that your ratings pinpointed an unraced 3 yr old (Shy Glance). No criticism intended as I’m aware that in Maiden races, one may go on previous successes of the stable or stable/jockey combination and cost of the horse etc. It’s just that when someone talks of ratings I always think of Form ratings.
Anyway again good luck. :)
October 20, 2005 at 07:06 #60833Thanks for the feedback Snowman
Im quite into stallion stats, and include them in my ratings hence the unraced horses being short listed.<br>Didnt do me much good yesterday though!

October 28, 2005 at 09:02 #60840Hi FHL
The main problem with this type of system is that it is difficult for everyone to get the same odds on the exchanges.
There have been a few systems posted here over the last few years that have used exchange odds and indeed bookmaker’s early morning prices. These may be available to the person tracking the system, but may not be available generally.
This doesn’t mean the system is unviable. It just means it is difficult to follow if you are not the main person tracking it.
Even if you state a set of rules for the system, so that everyone knows the selection in advance, results in terms of profit or loss will depend on the time the odds are taken from the exchange(or the bookmaker’s odds).
Using SP as a measure of profit and loss seems fairer but it can easily be argued that most of us(I hope!) only bet at particular odds which we consider fair. SP betting is really an anaethama to anyone who takes betting seriously.
Anyhow, FHL, good luck with your place betting.
