Does anyone know why this decent trainer has endured such a torrid time of it in the past year? I remember him mopping up on the AW a couple of winters back. Nothing from him in ages now. No winners this year!!
June 5, 2009 at 01:35 #232045Garstang has won twice this year and so has Tous Les Deux.
June 5, 2009 at 03:21 #232076Just like another trainer D A Nolan?
June 5, 2009 at 14:32 #232127Garstang has won since switched to John Balding, David, and Tous Les Deux since switching to Gary Moore.
June 5, 2009 at 14:42 #232131dandan – I think that is the point that dj is making. Grayson may be running up a long sequence of losers but his ex-charges at other yards are doing fine.
June 5, 2009 at 14:47 #232134Hello,
ex-horses winning with other trainers..is this not an indication that Grayson’s methods are somewhat flawed?
regards,
doyley
June 5, 2009 at 14:51 #232136At one time he had ambitions of competing with Ballydoyle. The closest he’s ever come to matching Aidan is by entering six runners in the same race! There, the similarity ends.

Sorry it was my sense of humour. Agree Grayson is terrible. Would like to see Nusoor in a seller.

The Ipso Facto syndicate already planning for next year’s Epsom Dash I see.
June 5, 2009 at 15:59 #232148We’d be 33’s to get him in the raffle I’d think there’d be that many claims for him.
June 5, 2009 at 16:06 #232149He does seem to have trodden a very similar path to Alan Berry: the OK start, followed by becoming a bit of a character, followed by complete embarassement.
I wonder if it’s something in the Lancashire air. Maybe Blackpool beach donkey flu has spread to both their yards.
June 5, 2009 at 16:13 #232152Oh yes Tous Les Deux: the creature that leaves Grayson, gets put up 20lb, quadruples in price with smelly in the plate and still can’t fail to win.
June 5, 2009 at 18:49 #232197It may have somehing to do with him feeding them an armful of haylage just before they run.
June 5, 2009 at 20:33 #232221But you wouldn’t want them running on an empty stomach would you, Cheekster? Or would you? Perhaps I should contact him and suggest a different training routine.
Dear Peter G.,
Here’s my tip to help you reverse your fortunes:
Don’t feed your horses for twenty-four hours before they race. Fill a net with haylage. As you bring the horse on to the course, swing the net just by the winning post; let the horse see and smell the sweet haylage; get the jockey to reverse the horse down to the stalls letting him still have sight of the net. When the stalls open, have a megaphone handy and shout, "Din dins, din dins, come and get your din dins". I can guarantee this will work. When I was a kid I tried a similar method with my pet goldfish and I swear it swam faster. Sadly, it died not long after. The vet said I shouldn’t have fed it haylage. Good lock Peter.

KYes you would Ken!

why is this guy so bad?
Deer Park Lord anyone, with the official rating of 1?
August 1, 2009 at 22:40 #242174Well, Peter Grayson has showed his detractor up for the fools they are courtesy of the mighty Regal Royale. That’s one winner and a second place from only one hundred and thirty six tries this year and the only way is up. Watch this space, folks!
