I don’t like to blow my own trumpet but I’ve backed the last 4 winners of this competition
my luck is due to run out10/3 Luke Humphries had a year from the GODS I’m on at 7’s a month ago and his price has collapsed
80/1 Joe Cullen unlikely but I was expecting 25’sWith Humphries the price he is now there are some big prices about
good luck if having a playCharles Darwin to conquer the World
December 21, 2023 at 11:35 #1674535Did anyone see Luke Littler last night? 16 years old, won 3-0 against a former BDO Champion and averaged 106.
OK, the Championship will get tougher. But if he can maintain that standard or something close to it, he has a legitimate chance of winning.
It is a big “if”, of course. But if I was one of the big name players, I would be taking him very seriously.
I missed the fancy prices but took 16 on Betfair last night just for a bit of interest. He is as short as 8/1 with Ladbrokes!
December 21, 2023 at 11:51 #1674541Yeah, a talent
Looks about 25 😂😂Charles Darwin to conquer the World
December 21, 2023 at 11:54 #1674543Yes, he’s a big lad for a 16 year old. I doubt he gets asked for ID in the pub!
December 21, 2023 at 11:58 #1674544He’s been helped with Wade and Wright being KO of his quarter
On again tonight at 7 Vs GildingCharles Darwin to conquer the World
December 21, 2023 at 14:05 #1674559A brilliant performance and clearly the future is very bright indeed for him but 8/1 is a bit of an overreaction I think.
With each round the pressure and expectation ramps up and if he makes it to the quarters then it’s a likely meeting with Price or Anderson both of whom have been there and done it.
I am not writing him him completely off, just saying that the odds are skinny. Think Becker winning Wimbledon at 17, these things have been done. Perhaps the blissful ignorance of youth can be a help. And £50k for the quarters if he gets there isn’t bad, more than most people have made all year!
December 21, 2023 at 14:15 #1674561Agree 8/1 is an overreaction but plenty of people clearly wanted to back him after last night. When I looked at Oddschecker he was generally 14/1 right after the match but it did not last long.
I was surprised to get 16 on Betfair. He is in to 10 now and will probably go shorter if he wins tonight. I could cash it out for a profit now but for the stake involved there is not much point.
Wright was absolutely terrible. His bravado beforehand cannot disguise his lack of confidence in the match.
December 21, 2023 at 14:18 #1674563I am sorry to say it but Fallon Sherrock and Mikuru Suzuki did not exactly advance the cause of women’s darts. I have to wonder if Sky are putting too much pressure on Fallon by putting her front and centre of their advertising.
At least Suzuki gave us a laugh with her walk on music:
December 21, 2023 at 14:34 #1674566I was surprised not to see Beau Greaves in it this year but apparently she opted to defend (successfully) the other version instead.
‘I have to wonder if Sky are putting too much pressure on Fallon by putting her front and centre of their advertising.’
Addresses gender balance and let’s be honest, she’s blonde and pretty. A modern advertising exec’s dream. Agree, let her do her own thing. She doesn’t look like champion material but the same is true of most of the blokes too.
December 21, 2023 at 14:50 #1674570Yes, I think Sky will have to rethink their approach. There is no getting away from the fact she has lost in the first round in the last three years and not played particularly well twice. They are raising expectations too much for someone ranked 136 and rated a 1,000/1 chance by the bookmakers.
Fallon has shown what she can do with nine dart finishes in other tournaments etc. If she was left alone and able to prepare without all the hype, there must be a good chance she will play better.
December 23, 2023 at 22:37 #1674845Love Ricky Evans, my favourite player but he never wins.
Delighted he beat AspinallCharles Darwin to conquer the World
December 30, 2023 at 14:50 #1675761Very much looking forward to Luke Littler v Raymond van Barneveld tonight. Will young Luke have too much scoring power? Or will the all the experience the former champion has prove decisive?
December 30, 2023 at 14:56 #1675763Hard to call, if Luke continues as he has done he’ll win but the pressure will have to hit at some point, surely?
Barney can be hit and miss these days bordering mainly on miss but his A game is up there with the best of them.
I’d rather a price on Barney announcing his retirement if he loses..

December 30, 2023 at 22:16 #1675819Wow. 112 average in the last set!
December 31, 2023 at 08:28 #1675840Littler is now second favourite behind Van Gerwen.
December 31, 2023 at 11:52 #1675860He’s not flinching yet
Dolan up next and avoids MVG if it goes that way until the finalCharles Darwin to conquer the World
