….there have been many (justified) warnings on this forum and other places concerning paid-for systems and information.
However, there are genuine information services which are not necessarily expensive and can prove profitable in the longer term.
I have recently subscribed to a couple of these services and would happily recommend them. I would not pass on the information contained therein as this is the intellectual property of the provider and as such should only be used by the subscriber.
I would be interested to know if any members of the forum have used genuine services which they would recommend.
Please remember, I am not suggesting that the information be shared just the details of the providers so that we can make our own assessment of the services available.
My apologies in advance if this post is deemed to be off-topic.Powered by Linux

Three recommended services.
1) £48 per 10 Issues
2) £30 Per 5 Issues (cheaper per issue for longer subscriptions)
3) £12 per 4 Issues (ditto)All are an excellent read….much more than just a tip sheet.

May 3, 2010 at 19:15 #293994Yep, I’ll second what Elcartero said, there are some good "paid for" services out there, but they are few and far between….. but a more important question would be, what services????…. after all, you can pay for membership to the Racing Post or Timeform…. "Paid for" services cannot be tarred with the same brush because some are actually really good….. in my opinion, services fall into two categories, they are services that produce tips and services that provide a service….. as a person that is going to pay out money every month, you need to be sure that your getting what you paid for…. if your splashing out £50 a month for tips and your only a £5 bettor, you’ll need that tipster to make at least 10pts profit per month just so that you can pay him… and there’s not many tipsters that can make that (to level stakes) month after month….. so to make it worth your while you have to raise your bets to £10 or resort to a staking plan…. now this means that your probably betting outside of your comfort zone, and that aint good…. so your staking £10 and making £100 a month, then your giving £50 away…. this is probably a bad move for the small change punter with a small bank…. they are good services, but they can’t work miracles and if you haven’t got a large enough bank (or big enough stakes) your not going to make a lot….. that £50 is like giving 10pts a month away and all this chasing around getting value is just thrown out of the window……
Now the service that provides a service, that’s something else…. I’m a member of a service that gives the best ratings that I’ve ever seen, he also gives his best bets, best lays, longest travelers, suggested dutch bets and even ratings for all the football….. there is also a forum where the guys are really banging in winning strategies from the ratings….. there are services around like this, that leaves the onus on you to bet what you want and do your own work, but you would be armed to the back teeth with all the information that you want to progress forward……
Yes, I agree in paid for services…. but the ones that are getting my money MUST give me a service and not just a tip or two….. there are lots of "free" sites that can give you winners without having to pay for any, I haven’t looked yet but there’s probably a couple of good tipsters on this forum….. don’t pay for tips, you can get them for free….. but in my opinion, you will need the expertise of a good service, whether it be ratings, race readers or time values….. you need the tools to do a proper job, but you need to keep the cost down…. every £1 you spend is a £1 you’ve gotta make from the bookies, and you already know how hard that is….. nowt wrong with a lot of "Paid for" services…. but can your betting income cover the outlay????…..

May 3, 2010 at 19:26 #293997You guys never cease to amaze.
In a nut shell cost effectiveness is paramount to be worthwhile and for the six penny and shilling punter the cost can never be recouped.

May 3, 2010 at 22:02 #294019Yes Bill, you are right there….. but you must bear in mind that your paying £x per month for your Daily Rag whether it be the Sun or the Racing Post, it could be argued that by paying your £30 a month you no longer have to buy alternative sources of rubbish to fund your hobby….. a lot of guys will by the Racing Post paper AND the Weekender and the Racing and Football Outlook…. then they’ll go out and buy Sundays "News of the Screws" because they are following Pegasus selection…. it may be more cost effective to cut to the chase and go direct to source for the same information…. you never know how the other guy lives….. me personally, I like to get my shortlist from other "free" sites, it costs me nothing and those guys have done the donkey work for me, all I have to do is work out whether I agree with them or not….. does this make me a pussy, yes, it probably does…. do I care, no, not one jot…. my sole intention is to make money without hurting anybody else and I’m doing that, but I would never have done it without the help of certain "Paid for" services, that’s why I would always agree that there are some good ones out there and £30 or £40 a month could only be the price of your Racing Post every day…… your right though, even the cost of your daily paper has to be taken into account and that cost also has to be recouped, so you are absolutely correct…. a good idea for discussion Escartero…..

You mention the use of "Paid for" services. Any
further info on these would be appreciated. Don’t
know if you are allowed to mention them on the
forum, if not then a PM would be OK.Cheers
