Abragante now drifting out to 8.8 on BF so it looks like he might not even be declared because that is a huge price if it was NRNB and can’t see the Pipe stable letting it drift to that big if they were still planning to run him.
As a Vodka Bleu backer, I hope this is a positive signal for his chance
November 13, 2007 at 13:45 #124542I’m with you on this one Perpetual.
Generally in this race (with this yard) I look at the bleedin obvious, then do the exact opposite.
November 13, 2007 at 22:39 #124616I have found myself getting involved in this race, maybe too much because I’m itching for proper NH action….
I’ve backed Bob Hall at 14/1 because he has solid course form and might improve past Knowhere from the last meeting- I don’t like his consistently big price on Betfair all week though.
I’ve tickled Crozan at 14s too because of his great record fresh.
I’ve also backed Vodka Bleu ( today at 12/1) for the same reason- he nearly pulled it off last year and may end up being the Pipe representative, who you want to be with in this race.
I may also save on Idole First if he’s declared, though it seems early in the season for him to appear- he too is best fresh and loves Cheltenham.
I see Don’t Push It aas the most likely winner but 4/1 is no bargain for an iffy jumper like him.November 13, 2007 at 23:34 #124627Ballyagran’s first two runs in Ireland this year seem exceptional, given his placings and the prize money of the races. I think he’s probably coming down in class from the first one!
But I’ve also got to risk Granite Jack’s jumping being up to scratch, as he seems exceptionally well-handicapped on his Gp 1 hurdling form at Aintree.
November 14, 2007 at 09:51 #124682I’m acting on the premise that neither Granit Jack nor Abragante will get in the race.
November 14, 2007 at 14:03 #124722does anyone know how Battle Cry is?
Please to report Battlecry is fine and well
November 14, 2007 at 18:02 #124760Racing Post website suggesting Don’t Push It is now doubtful.
November 14, 2007 at 21:22 #124787Bookies offer to lay at a certain price, punter either takes it or he don’t
How has bookie robbed punter???
November 14, 2007 at 21:25 #124788The enhanced odds obtained ante-post take these risks into account. I don’t see how bookies are robbing punters at all.
November 14, 2007 at 21:39 #124790The old lady was robbed
And unlike the old lady, you had an option not to take the price, so therefore it’s not robbery

Isn’t Marb’s point that someone is profiting from inside information, and not just on Betfair?
Surely if it’s wrong for a jockey’s father-in-law to profit from such information, it’s equally wrong for others to profit also? Or doesn’t it count when there’s no jockey involved?November 14, 2007 at 22:42 #124815Oh right – you’re referring to bookies taking bets on a (virtually) known NR. Then fair point.
Marb – I often place my bets after the 5-day declarations when you can still get a decent price about a leading fancy. Most plans are known at that stage and only bad luck prevents a "definite" runner from turning up, a risk I am well prepared to take.

who is profiteering from inside info???
Have i missed a n/r, because all i can see is one trainer state that his charge might not run due to a problem
The info is there for all to see
nothing has been confirmed either way by the trainer and so no reason for either the bookies or BF to stop trading on said horse

I suspect you might see a further example when Abragante isn’t declared for this race, (Currently 9.2, Betfair).
Whether or not, Marb’s point is still valid; people are making money from inside information that in only slightly different circumstances has led to lengthy bans for some unfortunates.November 15, 2007 at 10:24 #124854reet
Had a look at DPI’s Market info after you posted yesterday
40K was traded at below 9.2 (majority of that between 5.0 and 7.0, where he was competing for favourite) and 4k was traded above 10.0
So if there were any insiders wanting to take advantage, the backers were not having any
November 16, 2007 at 10:13 #125034Granit Jack got in as #20, Abragante was declared but missed the cut.
All those above Granit Jack were declared except – L’Ami, Forget the Past, Don’t Push It, Knight Legend, Le Volfoni, New Little Bric, Arteea, and Roman Ark.

November 16, 2007 at 10:18 #125035Cheers Alan,
That’s great news regarding Granit Jack, got to be a handicap good thing and thats where my money will be going after the absence of Don’t Push It
