Love this race, and even though Thedevilscoachman and Run Wild Fred let me down in The Troytown, this was the race I thought of straight away. Both have the right attributes I look for in this, and they head the shortlist.
Panda Boy was one of my main fancies for this last year, when he was a fair old price. He got gambled very quickly though, and I haven’t forgotten that. He’s on the radar again this time around
It’s great to see Ontheropes back out, but big question marks over his fitness, and fellow Cheveley Park runner, blew up yesterday, after a similar long layoff. He might just need this, and not sure what to make of that En Beton run yesterday
Gars De Sceaux and Meetingofthewaters also interesting, but would need a few to come out.
Won’t rush to have a bet (famous last words), but early trio for me are………
Panda Boy
Run Wild Fred
Thedevilscoachman
November 30, 2023 at 17:03 #1672270So Scottish would be my initial one, but I’d anticipate him being underpriced on actual achievements, leaving me to look for a backup immediately.
Panda Boy is a sensible call VtC, but if going for one of the smaller yards, I’d be looking to Jody Ted
December 4, 2023 at 16:16 #1672695I like Panda Boy too, but if they could sort out the jumping of Fire Attack, I think that he could be weighted to run well.
Meeting Of The Waters has a shout I’d say VTC. He is the one I’d like from Closutton
There’s no doubt about the form that Foxy Jacks is in, and he would be my first bet, once there is a proper market
December 4, 2023 at 20:36 #1672721Panda Boy won’t be missed in the market i suspect would be my worry about shortlisting him with too much excitement lol.
Another that’ll probably be near the front of the market is Amirite and i thought after Cheltenham the way he raced, he’d be better over 2.5miles next time out, but i guess he’ll be fitter now with the run. The DRF 2m5 handicap chase would interest me with him much more.
If Life In The Park gets his ground here, and is priced reasonably he catches the eye.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 5, 2023 at 15:56 #1672817Agree Jack, I’d expect he’ll comfortably be single figures……………surprised there isn’t a market yet
Agree too Autumnal. He’s been on my radar since the summer, and he’s one I’ll be following over next couple of seasons definitely. Love this type
This mark that the Irish Handicapper has given Any Second Now looks insane
December 8, 2023 at 04:55 #1673014Panda Boy has been tipped as one that’s being plotted for big handicaps by Johnny Dineen, so the cat is very much out of the bag there.
December 14, 2023 at 02:23 #1673694THEDEVILSCOACHMAN 16/1 Hills for this race
Hope you been ok Bob to
December 14, 2023 at 09:16 #1673702160 down to 150 in 1 race Bobby or what am i missing?
Seems drastic as you say..

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 17, 2023 at 22:29 #1674268Definitely Jack, a drastic overreaction by the look of things
That run on Saturday was standard for him, and he looked fine to me.
I’m thinking either here, The Ultima, or Aintree, he’s definitely winning somewhere off that mark anyway.
Edit
Still no Antepost in this, but probably for the best, as Any Second Now, and Thedevilscoachman taken out.
Flip side of that is that I’ve missed the double figures on Panda Boy. The 33’s on Run Wild Fred really starting to appeal, and Ontheropes and Meetingofthewaters also coming into it, but 100% going to sit this out till Final Decs
December 21, 2023 at 14:11 #1674560I’m not going to wait any longer with this one. I’ll take the considerably shorter 7-1 on Panda Boy just now. I’ll hold off with Jody Ted for now
December 26, 2023 at 08:50 #1674970Fakir D’alene 16-1 ew 6 places
December 26, 2023 at 15:35 #1675051A victory for Ontheropes would be hard to take, and I’ll hopefully be betting him in The Thyestes.
I have though bet stablemate En Beton, who also runs in Cheveley Park colours. No problem with his last run off a long break, and be surprised if he doesn’t come on for that. Notebook horse of mine two years back, and happy to keep the faith.
Run Wild Fred the other selection. If this is the plan, he should be bang there, and I’ll go for stakes back in running with him, rather than EW
Panda Boy, Gars De Sceaux, Real Steel, and Meetingofthewaters would all be frustrating winners, but not as much as Ontheropes
En Beton 50’s EW 6Pls
Run Wild Fred 40’sDecember 26, 2023 at 20:07 #1675098This looked really hard, the eye was really drawn to Gars De Sceaux and Meetingofthewaters, is it correct that the latter was bought by Patrick Mullins today? Change of ownership from Paul Byrne is dated today on Racing Post. I can see him being a Kim Muir ride for Patrick maybe down the line if they can get it up the weights enough, looks like he can’t do sub 11 stone. There is something about En Beton that is intriguing too and I’ll have a go at him EW with the extra places at 50/1. Chemical Energy is my long-term National horse so hopeful of a good showing here, top 6 would be fine, he’ll easily get in off his current mark.
December 26, 2023 at 21:07 #1675103I’m joining Mike on Fakir d’Alene at 16s ew, and also Busselton at 33s ew.
December 26, 2023 at 22:11 #1675108Busselton for me. Personal favourite of mine and he has proven himself in big handicaps. Distance and trip should be fine. With a 5 pounds claimer he is on a interesting mark as well. Quite a big price in my opinion.
Busselton 25/1 EW
December 26, 2023 at 22:36 #1675111Jody Ted 12s, for me.
Best of luck to all

I think it’s an error or a change of mind as until the 23/12 it says Patrick was the owner, and only a short change to Byrne?
Fancy Busselton myself, better on sounder going + think it’s clear with his last 2 entries/races they’ve been trying to get him dropped a lb or two. Now they have, + as DBRDBR says, good claimer on board, he looks interesting.
The better going for Life in the Park should suit too. Don’t get me wrong he’s disappointed mainly but at 40s i think he’s worth a small saver- he’s continually supported and pieces of his form do add up. Needs to bounce back though.
Buesselton the main fancy.Twitter: Jackh1092
