Understand the power is down at Kelso and has been for a while..it’s a bit bad up there….
January 6, 2010 at 20:56 #268318I am near edinburgh and the local news says much of the borders are blocked off.
I find it funny…there has been mountains of snow in scotland for weeks now but only since it snowed heavily south of Manchester has it become a headline news issue.
Tried to contact people from our London office at work today and most never made it to work…Southern Softies!
January 6, 2010 at 21:09 #268319Doug,i am supposed to be driving up to Fife tomorrow morning!
Any idea what the A1 is like around Alnwick and Berwick?January 6, 2010 at 21:22 #268321Not sure about Berwick/Alnwick but certainly bad east of edinburgh near Musselburgh, on the Edinburgh City Bypass and on the Forth Road Bridge approach roads as you near "The Kingdom".
3 or 4 people from work who come from the east of edinburgh couldn’t get into work today.

Its 2010, we’ve built spaceships and rocket launchers yet we are inept at handling snow.
January 6, 2010 at 21:32 #268326It’s snowing really heavily in Bamburgh; don’t know what the A1 is like because someone was planning to drive to Newcastle to catch a plane this morning and they only got 100 yards up the road! Don’t think the kids are getting to school at Alnwick; they certainly couldn’t yesterday.
January 6, 2010 at 21:38 #268327Cheers Doug, its incredible that the A1 is the lifeline that connects England to Scotland and yet its still bloody single carriageway in places! The A68 is defineately a No No and the West side from Carlisle is a nightmare! What a dilemma i have!I am down to my last can of Sweetheart Stout and i need to get up there to get some more as i cant get it down here!

Is the Queen of Ante-Post residing in her 2nd home,Bamburgh Castle? Awesome place Moe!
January 6, 2010 at 21:48 #268332Nah! The S.O. is oop there; I have to go to work. My daughter got married at the castle though, which was quite magical.
January 6, 2010 at 21:49 #268333Well good luck TAPK, I take it your ante post abilities will die without your sweetheart stout? A bit like Samson and his hair!
January 6, 2010 at 21:54 #268336A 50 mile traffic jam on the A1 in Northumberland today apparently, dunno if that was north south or both

My sister lives in Eskdalemuir which had 34cm of snow the other day that’s over a foot in old money. I would not be touching the back roads off the A7 for a wee while. The hill road east from Langholm via Newcastleton will be a bit dodgy to say the least as well.

I just love the stuff doug! I often ask myself if i was born gifted in that i have the ability to identify good horses,i suppose all geniuses question themselves at times!
I often refer to Foresight as a prority in my successes, but its no good preaching that, if the person you are telling doesn"t know what they are looking for! Years of study doug, and the picture becomes a lot clearer! Now what am i going to do? The thought of getting stranded in my Skoda estelle does not appeal!
January 6, 2010 at 22:23 #268345Cheers guys,i have done this journey more times than i have had losers and i have had plenty of them,i have set off at all times of the day month and year and yet never experienced weather like this, trouble is its a 650 mile round trip,so i have to be realistic here!"50 mile tailback",sounds horrendous! That must have been over the border into Scotland,as it would have made the news if it was in England!!! There"s a stretch of A1 between Edinburgh and Berwick,i call No mans land and i wouldn"t want to break down there on a normal day never mind with a foot of Snow either side of me! 4/7 the weather beats me! Thanks again!
January 7, 2010 at 13:56 #268517Yeah but they didn’t bleat about it. Besides 2 of them are English lol!
