I am looking forward to this Championship. I was there yesterday for the first practice day and I have tickets for Thursday and Saturday. The course looks magnificent.

There were not many players there because there were still tournaments being played but I did see Patrick Reed and Phil Mickelson. As LIV players, I assume they could not play in the ongoing tournaments. Reed hit some very good shots and looked like he was swinging the club well, if that helps!

I will post my selections later in the week.

Have a great time CAS at the Open. I seem to recall there was
an agreement or some merger with LIV and the PGA so that all
could play at the Majors. Don’t quote me though

    Rory wins this.
Lead up has been good and it mirrors circumstances leading up to his last open win.
Throw in the liv business and this is the first merged major and I’d be surprised if anyone from the new owners of world golf were to win given the behind the doors deal.
The incoming players are also disadvantaged by their short format.
Believe me, he is the last player I’d back to win in one of these tournaments, but everything seems aligned for him to do very well here.

McIlroy 7/1 and 20/1 as first round leader
    Fowler 22/1
    Lowry 25/1
    Spieth 30/1
    Thomas 60/1
    Reed 66/1
    Scott 70/1

McIlroy is a short price but his current form and course form cannot be ignored.

I like Lowry’s chance. I will be disappointed if he is not competitive.

Fowler and Scott both played well the last time the Open was at Hoylake.

Spieth is usually reliable in the Open and Reed looked like he was playing well when I saw him on Sunday.

Thomas is a bit of a risk given his poor Open record but a player of his quality does not start at 60/1 very often.

Should be a corker! All e/w to 8 places.

    Baby man (Rahm) 12/1
    Cupcake 20/1
    Spieth 30/1
    DJ 30/1
    Scott 75/1

Would love to see a home winner, maybe Rory will finally do it, 8/1 though? No thanks.

OK, who expected someone who has not won a tournament for six years to win by six shots?

Fair play to Harman. He was excellent from tee to green and holed plenty of putts. He absolutely deserved it, especially as he was not exactly getting a lot of support from the crowd.

But the final round was underwhelming. Sport needs competition but it was a victory stroll. The weather did not help either – too often it was difficult to see where shots had finished.

The other 155 players have to ask themselves if they could have done anything differently. Were none of them capable of doing what Harman did?

I enjoyed my two days at Hoylake. The Open is a great event. My only criticism of the course is the last hole. A huge par 5 where players are often left with 200 yards for their third shot is boring. Par 5s only work when they are risk and reward and can yield eagles to generate some excitement, like the two par 5s on the back nine at Augusta.

And Tommy Fleetwood needs to throw his putter into the Dee Estuary and buy another!!

Well I did manage to get some decent returns at least with STRAKA at 20/1 :good: :good:
And Tom Kim placed at 45/1 which considering his first round was a miracle and it was a fabulous tournament to watch and fully deserved winner :good: :good:

Well done Raymo, I was still in with a shout of a place with
with Hojgaard only 2 off 8th place going into the last at 150/1,
but 3 over for his round hit that one on the head
