I have found a post by RICKERTY dated March 2011 which makes reference to SWIMBO as a lady who makes her selections according to a name which may be connected to someone she knows or a place previously visited etc.
It has become known as the SWIMBO system within these pages, it is in my head and will not leave. Perhaps if DAPHNE JEAN or BILLYFAIRPLAY had lost I would have found dropping the idea like a hot potato easy but they both won.
So, for just one more time I shall bring SWIMBO back but this time I cannot be bothered to trawl through lists or racing pages searching for some obscure connection and so I have decided to check and consider only those thought to have a winning chance, perhaps if the price is good enough, maybe a place. I hope to find only one selection [each day] and avoid chucking loads of money at multiple choices.
I hate heavy ground and avoid meetings when it is as such but for this run at SWIMBO I will not include any filters such as ground conditions/trainer/rider/course/distance and on and on and on. The winning chance can only be position in the live market and having some kind of “nod” via Timeform and/or ATR verdict.
Huntingdon 5.30 FORTUNATE FRED @ 6/5 BOG . . . . . . . LOST

March 1, 2020 at 16:35 #1484358Because I spend a great deal of time with my Australian system I decided after checking Monday’s UK cards and not finding any coincidence selections I would look Down-Under where I can reference possible choices via several sites.
Cairns – R7 (8.00) FRED’S GIFT [e/w] @ 8/1 Unibet . . . 2nd = return +0.30

March 2, 2020 at 09:53 #1484410Ah, it’s just a bit of fun VtC, nothing else.
To sustain this, I expect an ability to endure losing runs is required and is a quality I lack. We are all capable of pulling off a Swimbo type of selection every so often but to go looking for one every day is more than optimistic.
I am trying to reduce the risk but I think we both understand it is only when the big prices are landed is when the profit is made.
I will continue until the expected losses mount up.

If I wanted to stretch a connection it could have been WILL to WIN at Lingfield 4.30 and although I expect it to do well I am not sure if the selection is within the spirit of Swimbo‘s rules and therefore I will let it pass.

Just like Purwell I am finding it a rather dour slog.
I missed this one LTO and so I wonder if it will make amends for me.

March 8, 2020 at 12:53 #1484929Having decided to fold my Australian experiment until a new season starts afresh it feels like a good time to close Swimbo down yet again.
I placed a couple of bets before deciding enough is enough: –
TRACTOR FRED 23/10 2.50 Southwell
GOODNIGHT CHARLIE e/w @ 13.08/1 3.35 WarwickIt would be nice to close with a winner.

March 10, 2020 at 21:15 #1485345Wish I had done that yesterday misu Pete my dad’s name have backed it before and got a result but missed yesterday and pops up 40/1.
Never mind better luck next time.March 11, 2020 at 19:19 #1485583Missing the boat is perhaps the story of my life Michael but I am not prepared to suffer those long losing runs in order to score the big one.
I think perhaps if say, at a one off race meeting or something similar, as the day I spotted Daphne Jean it can be a coincidence bet and does little or no harm.
Shame you missed it.
