I backed Remember Rose at 150’s so that’s down.

Will be going in on Barbers Shop each way if I have a bet in the race. Would need to drift some to become backable (and at the moment I don’t see that happening).

Think this race is wide open tomorrow and we could be in for something of a shock. Practically everything in the field has significant question marks hanging over it.

I’ve had a small few bob e/w on Air Force One myself. Think the drying ground is in his favour and the trends favour horses fresh out of novice company. I’m not too hopeful though because he ran shockingly bad in the Sun Alliance last year and was equally as poor in the King George. If he reproduces his Hennessy effort though and Noel Fehily can get him into some sort of rhythm with his jumping he might just sneak a place at a big price.

This is the most difficult Gold Cup I can remember.

I can make a cogent case for each one of them

    not

to win, but to find a compelling case for any of them to win is really difficult

I have an each way bet on Exotic Dancer at 20/1 because I thought it was good each way value.

Looking at the current prices my head says a "no bet" race, however I may also go against one of my main betting principles and have a small "heart" bet as well.

On Barbers Shop for no other reason than I would just love to see the reaction to a Royal winner and if we can get one up in our friendly rivalry with our friends across the Irish Sea what better way to do it.

I think Exotic will be thereabouts but i feel its a professional bridesmaid, I’ll go for Barbers shop as a watching bet.

    1.Barbers Shop
    2.Exotic Dancer
    3.Madison Du Berlais

I wanted the 20/1 (big three unplaced) on skybet but that was only 16/1 last look.

I’ve had a small double – Walk On and Albertas Run. Has cost barely anything and it pays well. Wins and it will turn my otherwise awful festival around.

The Gold Cup is a difficult one this year. Kauto isn’t at his best in the conditions of this race but has such class he could still win. Denman can’t be at his best ……….. can he? Exotic Dancer doesn’t really get home ……………. does he? Neptune Collonges should go well but the race may not be quite as testing as last year and even last year he couldn’t beat Kauto why should he this year?

I think it’ll take a low 170’s performance to land this. Albertas Run on his King George performance would only have to find a few pounds improvement to figure and he should relish the conditions of the race. That said he’s a funny bugger and might not bother to raise a gallop.

Air Force One, Madison Du Berlais are flies in the ointment we simply don’t know if they’ll be good enough.

Barbers Shop – Not good enough is he?

    Good luck guys and gals.

If I was forced to have a bet it would be a lay of Denman but the race is too tricky for me to get involved in.

Gone for Madison de Berlais ew, I’m with Paul, I can see more reasons for horses not to win rather than win. 11/1 seems a good price for MDB ew though…

Probably not but at least he’s an unknown quantity and anythings possible. i Just hope its a good race with a decisive result rather than carnage where we are none the wiser afterwards.

I have backed Kauto Star (in preference to Neptune Collonges) as my old hero Denman can’t possibly win this year.

If Denman does mange to win this year, then I shall have to re-evaluate my scepticism regarding the existence of Santa Claus and the much maligned tooth fairy. :?

One reaction would have been my radio colleagues wondering how on Earth they were going to get an interview with the winning owner. :)

Can you imagine Derek Thompson on bended-knee thrusting a microphone in her face and saying "enjoy the moment your majesty".

    God forbid!

    LMAO!

It would have been a piece of oik-to-royal toadying of the sort not seen since the days of Sir Alastair Burnet. :D
