Agree with both of you CAS and yeats. If he wouldn’t be riding for Qatari connections he wouldn’t get that kind of “protection”. And if the BHA uses the words “Extremely strict” then you can bet it’s extremely ……. whatever you want.
July 11, 2025 at 16:02 #1735903Oisin “brown envelope” Murphy? 🤔
July 11, 2025 at 16:03 #1735904It is also worth considering that if he had somehow got home safely that night, he was due to ride at Southwell the next day. He would have turned up there after a bender where he was still twice over the legal limit about seven hours after leaving wherever he had been boozing. Which means he must have been about three or four times over the limit when he wrapped the car around a tree.
Did he give any thought to the safety of his passenger and the other road users? Did he think about the safety of his fellow jockeys? I would have thought what Graham Gibbons did to Freddie Tylicki should serve as a reminder of what pissed jockeys can do to their colleagues.
Murphy comes across as reckless, arrogant and entitled. He needs to stop being indulged, taken down a peg or two and told to sort himself out.
July 14, 2025 at 13:15 #1736156When previewing Murphy’s rides at Windsor tonight, is it really necessary or appropriate for Mike Cattermole to describe him as “the great man”?
July 14, 2025 at 20:01 #1736161Just done a interview on SSR with Chapman , he says only he himself can sort himself out , I really think ( Chapman touched at it as if he knew ) that he a drink problem , he puts himself over well ( he’s one of the best of explaining and breaking down a race ) however I get the feeling he’s kicking a can down the road …
July 14, 2025 at 21:10 #1736171He does give excellent after race interviews.
The more I know the less I understand.
July 14, 2025 at 21:57 #1736172He’s a lovely bloke who’s fond of a drink and had ****** up on more than one occasion.
I’m no angel myself and have been banned for drink driving before. It’s a lesson learnt and you try to use it as best you can to remind yourself that you have a lot of growing up to do.
However some of the comments from the usual suspects on here are pathetic. Calls to ban him from racing are frankly ridiculous. I hope those of you with the holier than thou attitude have lived like the saints you claim to me all your lives!
July 14, 2025 at 22:31 #1736190Failed drug test , rammed car into tree while drunk injuring passenger , he aint no great man , if not ramming a car into a tree while drunk injuring a passenger and not failing a drug test at work makes someone an angel i put my hand up to being an angel . He may be a decent guy to chat to , he comes across as a relaxed kind of guy but to me the evidence at this stage is he is an arse .
Hopefully he sorts himself out ,he has no excuses.July 15, 2025 at 11:44 #1736227He had sex with someone who had use cocaine! That was the reasoning given for his failed drug test. Am I totally convinced that’s the truth? No probably not. But the mistakes he’s made he’s paid for and continues to pay for. This isn’t Fred West.
I hate these kind of threads anyway. What someone does in their private life should remain just that so a bunch of people commenting on the internet about it isn’t really my bag.
He’s a brilliant jockey and that’s the top and bottom of it to me.
July 15, 2025 at 12:19 #1736229Michael Jackson was a great artist, what he did in his private life was none of our business.
July 15, 2025 at 12:42 #1736230He is a top jock , he is being given another go, rightly so imho but ramming a car into a tree drunk on a public road is not his private life as many others are involved including the EMS personnel , other road users etc etc .
July 15, 2025 at 14:36 #1736235Similar feedback from Murphy to the last time.
“no excuse for what I did” etc.
“It’s very important not to make that error again” etcA concern is that he said he has had counselling the last 4 years. Yet he crashed his car whilst drinking since then.
July 15, 2025 at 23:05 #1736250If anyone wants to go and have a skinful and a gram of gear during their time off then yes that’s their own business.
As soon as you start putting other people at risk, be that road users, horses and jockeys, or anyone else, as a result of alcohol and/or drug abuse then that’s no longer their private life. Fancy getting on a train or a bus driven by someone who’s drunk? Thought not.
I hope he sorts himself out.
July 16, 2025 at 01:08 #1736252Iam sure the racing industry as a whole is rallying round the stable hand in the ketamine case today in the RP , i see she voluntarily left the yard , i assume it was no connection to the case why she left and her employer fully supported her rehab .
July 16, 2025 at 12:16 #1736258Ruby. Are we really drawing parallels between Oisin Murphy and Michael Jackson’s alleged sexual penchant for children??🤣🤣🤣
I think you’d fit in lovely on the news desk of take a break.
Or I can give you the link to mumsnet? Give your head a wobble lad!
July 16, 2025 at 21:36 #1736274TC, even in my early 20s I kept buying his records and wasn’t too much bothered about Neverland. Of course you can’t compare both of them, but how far goes staying out of someone’s private life if their both as prominent as Oisin or the King of Pop?
