Once again he snatches defeat from the jaws of victory on Spark Plug in the first at Goodwood. Travelling all over the field all the way up the straight but he decides to stay in behind Mount Logan as First Sitting strikes for home 2.5F out.
Passing the 2F pole he finally decides to pull out by which time he now has 3-4L to make up on the winner, closes down the winner and was a nose in front a stride before the line and a stride after it. All so unecessary, he should have won this race by a couple of lengths easy and I would love to have heard what excuse he came up with to explain this away to connections who have misssed out on a Listed prize.
Once again pundits bottle it from saying he c*cked it up saying it was more a brilliant ride from Mosse stealing the race than Spencer getting it wrong…….typical
May 27, 2017 at 14:28 #1302324Well said. I never back Spencer because of that.
May 27, 2017 at 14:33 #1302326The head on shows Spencer waving his clench hand in a fist pump like celebration after the line
the silly sod must have thought he had won…….

May 27, 2017 at 14:39 #1302328Spencer is terrible but, in mitigation, Spark Plug is a terribly difficult ride. Always needs to come from behind off a strong pace – exactly the type that is prone to that sort of hard luck story defeat.
May 28, 2017 at 19:38 #1302485Why oh why are we surprised when FRANK does this??
For me it is built in to my decision on whether to back anything with him on!!
May 28, 2017 at 22:01 #1302499I was on Spark plug
I wasn’t happy.
Anyone that knows me on twitter in here would verify that.
