Whatsa going on at Ballydoyle?
No Drifts for the ascot horses, no bum info shortening anything up,no bullshit news that "The Rip" has been working like the best horse ever seen in Ireland since Shergar.
In Fact, not been in the news all week at all, at all.
What the devils going on?
June 14, 2010 at 14:37 #300499No drifters? Rip’s drifting like a barge, 4/1 at the moment.
No steamers? Zoffany into 9/2 from about 9s.
June 14, 2010 at 14:43 #300502Re RVW’s drift: Sporting Life and RP quote AOB saying he’s worried about RVW’s fitness first time up. Why didn’t he have a prep run in that case, or go for the slightly easier option of the POW? Curiouser and curiouser.

Curious and odd too that the Ballydoyle News section on the Coolmore website has not been updated since before the Derby, not even to list their runners.
What gives?Oops – just looked again at Sporting Life website. Quite a few updates from AOB there, so not so curious perhaps after all.
June 14, 2010 at 16:59 #300535I think the Ballydoyle lot have made some odd decisions this season, running Rip Van Winkle 1st time out in the Queen Anne being the latest.
Of course we may all be proven wrong by this time tomorrow after Winkle has ripped the field apart(?!)…
June 14, 2010 at 18:45 #300563Like most ballyoyle products the website will improve with a couple of outings.

Don’t count on it.There is only one reason why updates on O’Briens website were transfered to the Coolmore site – censorship.
June 14, 2010 at 19:39 #300576I very much doubt lack of fitness will beat Rip tomorrow. I make him by far the biggest danger to the French mare and 4/1 is too big. What price would Sea the Stars be even with a 5lbs penalty in this?
June 14, 2010 at 19:47 #300578Yes but first time out last year Rip didn’t see what way Sea The Stars went so it doesn’t matter what price Sea would have been.
I also rate him as the biggest danger to the filly, but I’ll be surprised if he can beat her on his seasonal debut. I think she’ll win comfortably enough.

If she goes into the stalls, which has to be no better than evens over here (in France they give her about 15 chances.) Mr O’Brien seems less than sanguine about Rip Van Winkle, by his standards, and pretty up front about his likely needing the run.
June 16, 2010 at 06:22 #301013I wrote this for another thread but think it is worth posting here.
When was the last time that Aidan could not get a horse(any horse) ready for Ascot ? "Drifting" is the popular euphemism for "problem". In the Derby they scratched the fav. rather than let him "drift" any further. When being told to keep him in for a few days it was decided to put him away for the autumn. When was Aidan not able to get anything to catch his pacemaker in the derby? And today the pacemaker could not even get to the front in the St.James’s Palace Stakes.Johnny was looking round for him! When did Ballydoyle have a 2yo ridden by Murtagh start at 20/1 at Ascot and be beaten a short head?Sooner or later somebody has to say we don’t know what to expect from the runners from Ballydoyle.Things are so lost that two claimers were put up today (at Ascot!) in the hope that they, who are probably the morning riders would get a response from the horses.Incidentally they had three in the bottom four in that race(St James’s Palace Stakes). And Makfi(the other horse) was found to be ill.Now you tell me Ballydoyle does not have a "drifting" issue.
PS horses are drifting at Ballydoyle because I believe there is a bug in the yard and it is not contained.I followed the behaviour of bugs, not clinical, but in the way horses react for twenty years and know the signs and effects of having a virus in a yard.June 16, 2010 at 07:37 #301023When was the last time O’Brien failed to have a runner on a day at Royal Ascot?
