I agree Rumoush is far from a miler (just watch the Feilden back) and if anything she’s more likely to show a higher level of performance over 12f than 8. She’ll over excel in between the both though.
I’m still hoping Pollenator puts herself back in the picture and goes to Epsom. Taking my pocket out of the equation I feel she’d be more suited to the Diane though. We’ll see next week – she has a penalty to shoulder.
I can’t have Timepiece. Really attractive filly but something just doesn’t click with her. Can’t put my finger on it. Maybe she was just run into the ground at Lingfield. Doesn’t bode well for Epsom if that is the case.
I’m also hoping A Balding lets Pipette take her chance (providing it rains). 1 mile was an absolute minimum. A very relaxed filly, I can see her staying well and getting into the frame in what sadly looks a soft year.
May 8, 2010 at 17:20 #294740My oh my, if Principal Role looked terrible in the Paddock before the Pretty Polly, I have no idea how to describe Timepiece. She was positively skittish. She was easily spooked when the wind took hold of a couple of pages of my Racing Post and was just on edge the whole time, completely playing up.
Dyna Waltz did look lovely in the paddock – I’ll need to see a replay but my initial reaction was that Timepiece went too early and Dyna Waltz hated the track, got outpaced and then just stayed on.
Ceilidh House simply wasn’t good enough but she was already gone on the trends via her terrible breeding.
My two right now are Pipette and Wedding March. Will steam into the latter if she’s a confirmed Musidora runner on Monday morning. Already got some 40s, 42s and 44s.
May 8, 2010 at 17:31 #294744The Fillies 1mile-1m4f look a pretty bad crop in all honesty
May 8, 2010 at 19:14 #294757eleanora duse for me big price but stoute thinks a lot of her and she is running in the musidora
May 8, 2010 at 19:27 #294759Well you can completely forget Timepiece on that evidence.
Timepiece reminds me a lot of Henrys Reams of Verse, she was well beaten on her seasonal return to her stable companion Sleepytime in the 1000gns! Once stepped up in trip she showed what a class filly she was by winning the Oaks!Timepiece will go for the Lingfield Oaks trial and you will see a different filly when her stamina kicks in!I am not at all disillusioned by todays performance!
I am now! i watched the race as usual live and on Betfair and as the field approached the downhill slope around the bend before the straight
Timepiece
was 2/5 in running and i said to myself,"She looks like a cart coming down the hill"! Not impressed at all and then when she hit the front and virtually stopped after having a good look round i said goodbye to another Ante-Post voucher! Not a prayer at Epsom i"m afraid even allowing for greeness or even the possibility she actually failed to stay!

Erm, doesn’t seem to think a lot of her.
‘He said: "We are being a little bit ambitious with Eleanora Duse but she is from a very good Ballymacoll family so we are just going to have a cut at it. She has a bit to find on previous form but she is in good shape."’
May 8, 2010 at 20:02 #294766Done Rumoush and Timepiece in doubles with Chabal and Cape Blanco
The Oaks seems a minefield, as does the Derby to be fair, and hopefully it doesn’t repeat what we saw in the guineas.
May 8, 2010 at 20:06 #294771Just looking at the market principles now.
Timepiece, Ceilidh House, You’ll Be Mine, Kithonia, Pollenator, Seta, Lillie Langtry and Aviate – all very likely to miss the race. I wouldn’t even bank on Rumoush or Gile Na Greine turning up either. There’s a hell of a lot of value in the outsiders right now.
Eldalil will be skipping the Musidora. Rosanara, Field Day, Remember When, Principal Role all likely non-runners too.
That leaves Rumoush, Gile Na Greine, Dyna Waltz, Gertrude Bell, Cabaret, Hibaayeb, Wedding March, Hymnsheet, Namaskar, Marie De Medici and Pipette as the true ante-post list.
May 8, 2010 at 20:18 #294774What do you think of marie de medici zarkava ?
i see frankie dettori is booked to ride her wednesdayMay 8, 2010 at 20:27 #294776She isn’t an Oaks winner. She did the usual Mark Johnston-Frankie Dettori thing and won a very very poor race off a slow gallop. I reckon she’d struggle to get 10 furlongs in a truly run race and has absolutely no chance of getting 1 1/2m.
He isn’t really booked to ride. Since he has an agreement to ride for the owner, the Racing Post just puts him down as the rider. He’s also ‘booked’ to ride Wedding March.
Cabaret, Aviate, Gile Na Greine and hopefully Wedding March will be the main 4 runners on Wednesday.
May 8, 2010 at 20:39 #294781Any news on Kithonia as you know you are a fan of this horse
May 8, 2010 at 20:51 #294785Darren, I’m not a fan of her. She just stood out last year since her form figures were ‘1’ and she was Cecil trained with decent pedigree. When the entries were released and I looked properly I wrote her off completely. She’s not been given a single entry in any of the Oaks trials as I said a few posts and she’s available at 85s on Betfair. She won’t be running.
May 8, 2010 at 21:30 #294791Zarkara, tbe horses you say won’t run, what is the reasoning for your thinking with each one?
May 8, 2010 at 21:33 #294793I still like Ceilidh House despite being a tad dissapointing today!!
I think the ride given to her by Jim Crowley today was not the best, and I think with Seb Sanders on board and being held up off a strong pace, we would see massive improvement!!
May 8, 2010 at 21:53 #294800Timepiece – said to be a very doubtful runner after today’s performance by either Grimthorpe or Cecil.
Ceilidh House – not good enough
You’ll Be Mine – clearly had a setback. Was entered for the 1000 and Pretty Polly, withdrawn from both and hasn’t been entered in anything since.
Kithonia – hasn’t been given any trial entries
Pollenator – connections said the Prix de Diane beckons
Seta – wasn’t given an entry at the initial entry stage
Lillie Langtry – might make it back to the Irish 1000 and O’Brien unlikely to push her immediately
Aviate – Cecil said the Prix de Diane is the likely target since 12f will probably be too far. That might change if she puts in a promising performance in the Musidora given Timepiece’s possible absence.
Eldalil – won’t be running in the Musidora and doesn’t hold an entry for the Swettenham.
Rosanara – Frenchies never come over for our Oaks
Field Day – doesn’t hold an Oaks entry and not entered in any trials
Remember When – cannot possibly get the trip on breeding
Principal Role – very doubtful runner after her Pretty Polly performance
May 8, 2010 at 22:10 #294808Forgotten Horse Termagant for the Oaks maybe
Out of Powerscourt but a selkirk mare is a concern.
Ice Empress ran smart race last time out in a maiden…visually very impressive.
Lolly for Dolly would be very interesting but not entered but may be supplemented if she win Irish Guineas in a canter but again a Oratorio and not certain to stay.
May 9, 2010 at 11:16 #294883Zarkava, so Principle Role and Aviate definitely not going? Gutted as I’ve backed them both on betfair at 75s and 50s
