Although extemely cold, it was a very good start to the new season. I’m a big fan of Little Ed so it was very pleasing to see him win again. Great to see David Pipe turn up to present the prizes for his sponsered race. Glad to here you enjoyed the meet Jeremy. Here’s to the 2008-09 season!
I’ll try and post some pics a bit later.
December 1, 2008 at 14:58 #193519HJ and Zoz: with you both at Cottenham, who put the result on? Surely not DI?!?
Don’t be ridiculous!!
I gamely whizzed back here after four races and did it myself
December 1, 2008 at 15:04 #193522Oh yes, of course, I’d forgotten David Pipe sponsored the Mixed Open! He seemed in very happy, relaxed mood, as befits a man who’d pulled off his best training result of the season barely 24 hours earlier.
Philip Hobbs was also present to see his daughter Diana finish third on Fool On The Hill in the same race. Both her and her sister are plenty tidy enough in the saddle, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see both these two, along with the prodigiously talented 16yo Georgina Andrews, bag their share of winners under Rules in the years to come.
As with Mr Pipe, Mr Hobbs was in genial mood. It’s great to see them enjoying a day out among the rank and file every so often.

Ah, that explains the text I got from you wondering what the delay from BFL was! As I presume Martin will have mentioned eventually, there were a few loose ends re: (sadly) the injuries / fatalities, one disqualification and one dead heat to tie up to varying degrees after racing.
…as opposed to my usual excuse for keeping you waiting for results, which is that I’m the slowest man ever.
