Saturday sees a great handicap which is very strong on trends!
Sadly the horse I believe will go very close (First Mohican) misses many and the biggest being favs terrible record! Also the value has now disappeared.
I have selected 2 that I believe could go very well:
Communicator won’t mind gd/soft but won’t run if heavy, hits numerous trends and at 12s is a nice EW price.
Secondly, Nicholascapernicus has run some good races of late and at 8s is worth a win bet.
November 7, 2012 at 00:44 #419341My initial thoughts on the race would be that Art Scholar has sound e.w. claims.
Ran second in big runner field over c/d last time out and time before that ran second to First Mohican at Nottingham.
Songcraft, Retrieve{Godolphin} and Kirthill are others to consider.
November 7, 2012 at 22:18 #419393Nicholascopernicus was a horse I was going to follow this year but he disappointed me and his form tailed off. A ready winner last time out, I am going to back him at 8/1 as a reasonable alternative to the hot pot Cecil runner, in the hope that he has found his A game again.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

November 10, 2012 at 14:30 #419607Well,got the betting right about the fav let’s hope I called the winner too
November 10, 2012 at 14:53 #419611So near yet so far! Damn daryl holland for being ill, I know Communicator would have won with Holland on the winner lol
November 10, 2012 at 23:41 #419638Definitely a trainer on the up .. Gradually increasing the size and quality of his stable whilst keeping it manageable .. Seems very astute in terms of picking up bargains at the sales and finding the key to improving them.
I’m friendly with a local chap who has horses with Mike and have been invited to go along and view the morning gallops and have a look at the set-up .. should be interesting as he now has all boxes pretty much filled and plenty of promising types no doubt capable of improving upon their current rating.
Nice to note as well that on a recent trip to Yarmouth they won the best turned out in all four races in which they were represented .. pretty unprecedented I should imagine and a great reflection on the work that’s going on in the yard in general.

The punters are pretty predictable. Anyone taking 3/1 in a late season handicap with 20 plus runners, in which the trainer hasn’t won the race in the last 30 years, needs to check into the local funny farm for some therapy. Nicholascopernicus never travelled and I knew after a couple of furlongs that he wouldn’t get involved. Typical minefield for punters but it’s fun stakes only at this time of year. Roll on the Festival!!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
