Can’t believe the amount of attention this has attracted. BBC had reports from Oz and Serbia on yesterday morning. Do people care that much.

    Yes.

It is not a matter of tennis. More of always being interested when governments seem to abuse their power. (Which of course is why thick-as-crap Murray fails to understand Farage’s position).

What do the decisions of the sovereign nation of Australia have to do with Farage?

He’s been telling us for years that we shouldn’t keep letting Eastern Europeans in and that we should have an Australian style immigration system. Now he doesn’t like Australia making sure it it correctly applying its own rules to an Eastern European

If he’s concerned about government abuse of power he could start far closer to home.

Farage is a narcissistic opportunist. I see that he has emerged from out of the sewers. Along with his supporters….

What the hell has this got to do with Farage ? He travels to Belgrade to be with Djokovic’s
brother? What is that all that about. He’s an odious attention seeking prat and I don’t disagree
    with what Murray said.

The important thing Murray said was

“I think everyone is shocked by it [the circumstances] to be honest
I’m going to say two things on it just now. The first thing is that I hope that Novak is OK
I know him well, and I’ve always had a good relationship with him and I hope that he’s OK.
The second thing I’ll say on it … it’s really not good for tennis at all, and I don’t think it’s good for anyone involved. “I think it’s really bad.”

That doesn’t sound like “thick as crap” to me.

    “Farage is a narcissistic opportunist.”

It takes one to know one so, speaking as. particularly narcissistic opportunist myself, I would have to concur with Moehat’s excellent analysis of Farage.

Novax won his court case but – as I understand it – that court case was all about whether he’s been treated right getting to and once getting to Australia.

Australia has a rule that already having covid does not give a person the right to stay.

Therefore apparently Novax could still be deported.

Individuals are always more newsworthy than cold stats, hence the media interest in Ghislaine Maxwell and Djokovic. Meanwhile a bloody power-struggle is happening in Kazahstan, Russia is poised to invade Ukraine, 150,000 dead in the UK during the pandemic (many 1000s excess deaths, many 1000s due to government incompetence and ideology).

I would have thought that Farage, of all people, would have approved of Australias strict border controls….or has he had a damascene moment too ( must be an epidemic of them!)

“Damascene” is clearly Moehat’s word of the day – quality!

It was a phrase that hit me when Johnson was suffering from covid the other year and I (wrongly) thought he’d actually started to take the virus seriously. That was a strange few days: much as I loathed him I found the rumours coming from the hospital about how serious his condition was very unnerving/upsetting. It made the pandemic very real. Since then it seems to have described quite a few situations. Anyways, Frogface has actually made me get round to rejoining* the Labour Party, something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time. Procrastination being another favourite word ever since a teacher at grammar school wrote in my report that I was a very good pupil but was ‘prone to procrastination’. As true now as it was then!
*that and watching an interview with Wes Streeting this morning in the early hours….

It’s a fantastic word and henceforth I shall be gratuitously using it at every opportunity to meet all my Road To Damascus-related conversational needs!

tbh The Aussie government were damned if they did and damned if they didn’t.

    Makes me laugh.

Somehow suspect had the Aussie government not stepped in:
Those exact same people now complaining about the Aussie government’s “abuse of power” in stopping Novax… Would instead be complaining about “one rule for the elites (Novax) and another for the ordinary citizens”.

How very dare those nasty authoritarian Australian politicians only allow just over 2,000 Australian citizens die of covid by their evil restrictions. They had as much right to die as the rest of us.
