Sorry for the late reply Nath, took a wee break from this place for a few days

I was very lucky mate, and I got paid out on the day. It was with Betfair Sportsbook, and I assume they have a first past the post rule. I didn’t query that, I just took the money and run.

For all I do a lot of forecasts, exactas, I’m not sure of the exact rules when this happens. Very rarely I’ll talk about actual amounts of cash on here, but on this occasion and to answer your question, I scooped £878 for that forecast, which at the time I thought was on the low side (for all it was my third biggest ever), so I was curious as to whether they paid out half. One things for sure, all my forecasts will be with Sportsbook now

I don’t think I’ll get paid out any more, even if I am indeed correct about getting only half. It’ll be like that time, you might remember, because I know we discussed it, when Belgian Bill got awarded The Golden Mile a few months later.

    Thanks for the reply
Like you say there must be something in the rules somewhere
Glad you got a pay out.. :good:

    Thanks mate

Didn’t put my bets up yesterday, as I had far too many, and decided to hold back after the first at Haydock, but from Big Races, had a return from my old pal Euchen Glen, and a top up at 80’s on Mid Winster, which paid for the weekend. She’s a nice horse, and I’ll definitely be following her again this year.

As I said, knocked it on the head after I’d bet Galice Macalo. Going really well, and I was just about to hit lay, when she blundered her chance away two out. Reckon she’s going to win at a price some day, and don’t want to miss her.

Some nice races today, but not going totally nuts, and the horse I’m most interested in is one I’m not betting, my old pal Bachasson. I also think that stablemate Mister Policeman is one I’d be interested in long term, provided he’s just short of Grade 1 level

If any returns from this lot, I’ll look at Grand Slam Sam, or Top Gun Simmy later on

Delighted with Legacy Thor yesterday, and after a post Cheltenham lull, a decent weekend that, with two 80-1 shots getting fair returns.

Just delighted to see Bachasson win as well. Smashing horse

No rest obviously with The Irish National Card. Smashing line up as usual, and I’ll top up my shrewd Antepost on Fire Attack EW. Very difficult to whittle the field down. I’m in the unusual position of having three of my Ten To Follow horses running, and I’m with Thedevilscoachman and Royal Pagaille too. It was very hard to leave out The Goffer, but if I’m right that he’s an Aintree horse for next year, then I should be right to cool on him here. If I’m wrong I’ll bet him in running. Already been good to me this year with two wins, and that very nice lay Antepost in The Kim Muir, and also in running in The Ultima. If it has to be in running at reduced odds, I can hardly begrudge him.

Really excited about Ballyburn again too, but all about next year with him. I really like the start made by All Those Years, who runs at Cork, and he’s another I like long term. Short enough tomorrow though on a busy day

Few others getting bet, but I’ll leave The Goffer out the list, as he’ll strictly be in running………

Just two for me on what is normally a losing day for me anyway. Wish more had stood their ground in Manifesto, as kicking myself for missing the 8’s on Saint Roi. I’m hoping my old pal Conflated wins The Bowl, but not betting him at that price.

Banbridge was always one of my big horses for this season, so hoping he can kick the meeting off with a winner for me. Before Midnight big chance on big form. Unfortunately a long time he showed it

Delighted with Banbridge again, and looking forward to more already next season.

Happy with that quiet Thursday then, especially with Friday so busy. All of these covered in Big Races, and though it’s a lot, I’m still considering Iroko, and The Bosses Oscar

Smashing day today with Apple Away winning at 16’s, and EW’s from Tritonic at 25, and Battleoverdoyen at 50’s. Particularly chuffed with Battleoverdoyen. Third time this week for a 50+ EW shot, and third time this season, he’s given me a chunky EW Return. Couple of years since I put him up as one to follow, and he’s really paid me back.

Gesskile and Burrows Saint were the main disappointments, while I was disappointed in myself betting Millers Bank. I had completely went off him before the off, and I knew it was a mistake, as he’s not up to this grade. Got what I deserved.

Anyway, I’ve had some long days at Aintree, so to have two very profitable days, means a lot. I can now relax, and cut loose a bit, and most importantly, profit on The National already before the off, which is always what I plan. Doubt I will relax though, as it’s the biggest day of the year for Racing, and I hope it all goes according to plan. I’ll have a houseful as usual, and will be rough Sunday, win or lose.

May start off with Mexico and Mill Green in the second, while I like Beat The Bat, Samui, and Dino Bellagio, but I’m not betting any of them right now. Samui in particular looks a nice long term prospect

I’ve not much to add from Saturday, it was a fairly sad day, and maybe a potential game changer for me (again).

Nothing much to add on The National. Plenty said elsewhere on the forum. Some of it considered, rational, and sensible, but sadly, as usual, a significant amount of nonsense as well. The only consolation I really took was that after saying all year that Corach Rambler wouldn’t be a handicapper for much longer, he finally confirmed it. Absolutely nailed on to be in The Gold Cup picture next year. He’s 70’s just now, and I’m tempted

Betting wise, Sire Du Berlais was a real positive, and for all I can’t abide celebrating winners when a horse has clearly died, I can’t let him go without a quick mention. He’s been a mental horse to follow the last four, five years on here, and I’ll miss him when he retires. They don’t come around too often.

Quick word on Roi Mage. Absolutely delighted with him, and though I hated every second of that race, he did me proud, and he ran a cracker.

As usual, cracking on, totally immersed in it, and I’m with stablemate of Roi Mage at Tipperary. Current 9’s too big for Chameron I reckon, though I’m hoping for bigger. I’m sure I’ll be following All Those Years closely next season, and he’s a big player surely

Also going to bet Hide Out. Still a maiden, but has a few runs that caught my attention.

Great to see Dalton Highway back out as well. Hopefully he’s in good shape after a long layoff

Nothing doing yesterday. Took 10’s for Chameron and got hit with a 40p R4 not long before the off. Wouldn’t have been betting him at those odds, and should’ve left it at that. But no, when he went out to 17-2, I topped up. Daft.

Much better yesterday. The Friday Man was a decent winner, even with another R4, and managed a profit on the others, bar Silver Flyer. Herbiers was biggest bet of the day, so having went very low, bit more back on him. Already thinking he might just be one for The Paddy Power Gold Cup

Definitely playing on after that, and in the opener, going with two. Grievetana got me a decent return in The Gerry Fielden, and having ignored her since, back for more today. Galice Macalo is bet again, as she was running a big race at Haydock, and her odds are too big, but still looking for more. Took a chance on El Elefante in the last. Stable in form, and she’s definitely got potential

Plenty of my early shortlist made it, and still really keen on Flash Collonges and Famous Bridge in particular, while still think that Mighty Thunder should make the frame. He’s a fraction of the price I hoped for, and in a race where I’ll have enough on, I’ll leave him.

In the end, went with Coopers Cross. I really liked the way Coopers travelled at Doncaster, and it was a similar story at Aintree last week. Credited with a fall, when he was actually hampered and knocked over. I think he’d have won. On my radar for Aintree next year, and if over that race, I think he can surprise here.

I’ll bet the Thomson pair in running if need be

Few at Ayr todays, and hopefully get a run for my money from my pair in the big one. Threw a few quid their way

Really chuffed with Coopers Cross the other day. Ended up my only bet in the race, and being all on him, was a very decent lift. Happy to follow him again next year, and he definitely has another big one in him.

Nothing doing with the rest, but knew my fate with Soaring Glory before the off. Had a small top up at 9’s, and once bet was on, he went to 12’s in the blink of an eye. Had to laugh.

Day One Punchestown, and the final week of my season.

Always a good week this, and I’ll bet every race probably, though certainly won’t be putting them all up here.

Agonising with old Chacun, but a nice payday, and I knew he had it in him. Thought for a while that James Du Berlais was going to get involved, but he still ran ok. Remember’hesmine ran ok, and maybe a future project.

    The other two were dreadful.

The opener on Day Two is insane, and I’m going to pick one and stick with it. Teescomponentsyess is 50’s at the moment, and that seems fair on last run, but he’s got a few runs that would give him EW shout.

Three Card Brag is already a bet of mine for NH Chase, but I’ll sit this race out. I’ll have a small interest in Tag Man in the 1645.

I was happy with the 16’s, 3 places for Hewick Antepost, so the 33’s is ominous. I still took it though. If he goes 40’s, I’ll take that too.

I thought Western Diego was a real eyecatching runner in The Cheltenham Bumper. He’s a horse I’ll be following closely next season, so as well backing him just now at 9’s

Last but not least is Ilikedwayurthinkin. I honestly think he can win one of the bigger handicaps, and can’t desert him here.

Very poor lot today, and the only one with any excuse was Teescomponentsyess, who’s got another decent run in him.

Back for more though, and away from Punchestown, I’m with Midnightreflection at Warwick. Should give her running eased a couple of pounds.

Just going for it now, as been a very good season, and with three days left, I’m going to enjoy it

Back at Punchestown, and I’m giving Call Me Lyreen another chance.

In The La Touche Cup I’m with two horses I’m no stranger to, and splitting my stakes the pair at around 11-2

The Stayers is a nice race, and although slightly surprised to see Sire Du Berlais back out so soon, I have to bet him again. I’d love to see him retire after this.

The 1800 is all about A Great View for me, but maximum respect to Legacy Thor is a strange old price at 33’s, and got to be a good chance I’ll add him.

Western Zara ran a nice race in The Kim Muir, and I thought the price very fair for her in The Mares Handicap, while I think Saint Roi is the one to be with in The Colliers. Think he’ll be a lot closer to El Fab this time

Terrible week so far, and this is on a par with my record at an Ebor Festival. Usually do a lot better at Punchestown, and miles off this year. I got minor profits in running from Midnight Maestro and Sire Du Berlais, but that’s not going to make much difference, and looking at the runs of Saint Roi, Mortal, A Great View, Western Zara, and Call Me Lyreen, I really should be wrapping this up.

I’ll continue on though, but only two at Punchestown tomorrow, as Saturday is going to be be very busy

Another blank day, with only Planned Paradise getting anywhere near, though he was well held, and after he clouted four out his chance was gone.

Well impressed by Kilcruit today, and he’s on my radar for everything now. He must be a serious contender for The Galway Plate. He won with some amount to spare

Thought Uncle Phil showed a fair bit of potential too. No idea what they’ll do with him, but am interesting one alright

    Punchestown
Been a poor week for me obviously, but it’s been an unreal season, so I’m just going for it.

In the opener, Midnight Maestro should be suited by the drop in trip, and he’s worth another try after his effort on Thursday.

The Colm Quinn, and The Pat Taafee are my two favourite races of the week.

In The Colm Quinn, splitting my stakes on The Dabbler and Fairyhill Run. The Dabbler was terrible last time, but he wasn’t knocked about.

In The Pat Taaffe, I’m mad keen on Snugsborough Benny. Been patiently waiting on him after being brought down here five months back. I’m sure he would’ve won that day, and hope he’s worth the wait. I looked at Ramillies and Escaria Ten, but I really couldn’t ignore Sam Brown, and bet him when the market opened on Thursday.

I’ll see how they go before deciding on the 1730, but main hopes would be Power of Pause, and The Shunter

    Sandown
Can see there being a few Non Runners here, so holding off with any more till the morning.

I like Kansas Du Berlais a lot in the opener, but haven’t made my mind up on him.

In The Celebration Chase I topped up my excellent 20’s (FFS) on Funambule Sivola, taking 44’s tonight, and I’m hoping Editeur Du Gite remains backable tomorrow, though will depend on Non Runners

In the big one, already with Broken Halo and Frodon. Probably last time I bet Frodon, so definitely more going on him. I love The Goffer, and he’s already been very good to me this season, but I’ve missed the price. I’ll be betting him for a good few seasons hopefully. Coolvalla and Moroder the other two I’d like to be with.

In The Oaksey Chase, already with Hewick, but would be no surprise to see him pulled. The current price for McFabulous is insane, and considering that I’m betting him for King George, I have to bet him here, but I’ll wait and see if the field stand their ground.

Loads of bets then, and could go badly wrong, but last day, so going to enjoy it.

Hard Luck this week VtC, but Snugsborough Benny was a great call and Hewick was massively impressive. Given the remarkable season you have had the perils of Punchestown are not really surprising. A great season of selections to look back on.
