Triptych
. Not only did she predict the winner of every single classic but is a great race reader and deliberately comes last in the comps, that’s how modest she is.

– an ‘unsung’ member perhaps but her always good natured and often charming posts continue to raise a warm smile. Happy retirement Mo!
Thanks as ever to all posters for the entertainment you all provide
December 7, 2013 at 12:08 #461139Tommy(THM) – To my eye the best on the forum at putting together a race write up. Also his Irish knowledge trumps anyone else on here.
Gord(TAPK) – No one but no one can entertain like does with his own style of writing. His threads don’t get the amount of views they do for no reason.
Jonibake – One of few people who can keep the flat season interesting for me with his thread. His consistent profit margins are very impressive as well.
Stevecaution – Really grown into this place in 2013 and become one of the main contributors. Genuinely hilarious and highly knowledgeable.
December 7, 2013 at 22:33 #461236Betlarge all the way for me this year. Yes.

December 7, 2013 at 23:22 #461244Betlarge thoroughly deserves to win this given the many good threads that he’s created this year. His even-handed one about the Big Mac case was excellent and said pretty much what I thought, but he put it so much better than I ever could.
However, I’ve got Nathan as runner up in my straight forecast, so my nomination is for him he’s a good lad and a mainstay of this forum. Also, having seen some of his bets laid bare lately… I feel he needs something that gives him some chance of winning
In short;
Nathan Hughes
December 10, 2013 at 09:33 #461360I tend to inhabit only the Horse Racing and Big Races cul de sacs, so I’m probably missing some good craic elsewhere.
There is nobody here whose posts I’d skip. I enjoy them all and they give me an insight to personalities of people I’ve never met but feel I know well.
Ginger’s sheer doggedness and dissection of any argument deserves recognition. Drone speaks only when he has something to say and I’ve learned a fair bit about life, as well as racing from his succinct posts.
Like others, I’m always keen to see what Mr Caution has to say (although I wish he’d change his avatar back!), and Nathan’s sunny nature never fails to cut through a dull day.
THM posts some fine analysis and I’m a fan of Venture to Cognac’s summaries too.
But my vote goes to Betlarge, mainly for laying open his soul, his wallet and his profit & loss in a noble experiment. Mike’s decision to test his character as well as his judgement to see if he might make it as a pro punter was hard enough. To lay everything out to the eyes of other forumites takes something else altogether. Had there been a Thread of the Year, that would have won it for me.
Apologies to those I haven’t mentioned by name, but I’m at home in the company of all of you. And thanks to those who mentioned me.
Good luck to all for 2014
JoeDecember 10, 2013 at 12:15 #461368Gamble for me all the way …..short head from Mike Betlarge , who will probably win by 10 lengths
December 10, 2013 at 17:31 #461403Could nominate one of many, many forumites. Steeplechasing, Betlarge, Triptych, Stevecaution, Venture To Cognac, Fivelongdays, Bozlike, The Ante Post King, Gingertipster, Darren, Nathan Hughes the list goes on…
My nomination goes to
Jonibake
. During the flat season, he was one of the few to keep his head when all around him (mainly me) were losing theirs. The result was an excellent thread in the DLAP’s section. He has a superb knowledge of all things Cecil and his posts regarding Sir Henry and Warren Place were as good as any this year in my opinion.
December 10, 2013 at 20:59 #461425Since I have been a member on here I would say this past year has attracted the very best contributions from the very best contributors.Even when ‘I’m chock up tut tash in it’I still find time to read all the above mentionds posts and to single one name out would be way too difficult for me as everyone has there own style of writing. When push comes to shove though the hardest thing about this fine sport we all love is about Winning,Losing is not good for the soul and as much as it pains me to say it that Ginger haired T*at known as
Gingertipster
,mardiest mard Ar*s there is.Most opinionated dick who just has to have the last word on everything still consistently returns a healthy profit in his own inimitable way.Its not a way I believe in,I’d compare it to the mighty Arsenal fielding 22 players against 11 but it works and has done for a very long time and that in itself deserves credit! Like I say I dont like saying it but my vote goes to ‘Ginger’!

That’s very kind Nathan but I don’t think I predicted the winner of every single Classic, just got lucky with 2 very good horses and bored everyone to tears rattling on about Dawn Approach and Sky Lantern…and I’m doing a very good job of coming last in the compy’s again but enjoying it.
I would of course like to nominate you Nathan for holding onto that bag of Starmix for so long it must be well past it’s sell by date now, no doubt it will be back as the star prize for the Grand National and Cheltenham Festival compys
My nominations:
Nathan Hughes
: (because he makes me laugh)
Gingertipster
Because it wouldn’t be TRF without him.
Jonibake:
Because he loves Sir Henry & Warren Place with a Passion and I’ve really enjoyed his posts.
Everyone on TRF deserves a nomination but I’m really hoping Nathan Hughes will get it this year to make his little boy smile even wider than the day he got a signed photo of Snow Fairy.

I think you are forgetting that big priced winner of the Oaks? Such is your modesty and
Talent
at pick a winner.
Blackbeard to conquer the World
December 11, 2013 at 13:26 #461467Happy days Nathan, that win got me through the season in profit.
Looking forward to next flat season and hoping Treve and No Nay Never will come over for the first 2 Classics at Newmarket in May, I have a feeling a French filly will win the 1000 Guineas but the 2000 is a bit of mystery not like last year when it was Dawn Approach all the way
Just noticed the nominations close on Friday so going to rush through the rest of the Awards before I go away.
Good Luck NATHAN I hope you have won when I get back.
Just to say also really enjoy readingBetLarge
and
Steeplechasing
blogs on here, those guys know their racing inside out… so much Talent (oh maybe that’s where my 20/1 winner came from ) staring me straight in the face.

Can’t believe there’s any debate about this.*

*It’s probably fixed anyway…
