December 2, 2010 at 13:33 #330833Some astonishing rides to choose from this year.
Adam Wedge on The Camerengo at Kingston Blount, March 13th, might have got my vote were it not for the fact only myself and Bbobbell would have seen it among the TRF massive. Bit self-defeating, therefore!
AP McCoy on Two Miles West at Cartmel over the August Bank Holiday nearly won me over, likewise Tom Cannon on that arrant jade Swordsman at Stratford mere days before.
In the final analysis, though, I’d have to agree with those who’ve already nominated Matt Crawley’s odds- and gravity-defying victory on Lastroseofsummer at Musselburgh last month. Incredibly panic-free horsemanship given a set of circumstances in which many riders’ first thoughts may have been self-preservation, never mind still trying to win the race!

Honourable mention for AP McCoy, Drill Sargeant – to lead, then be last, then win…

Firstly AP McCoy on Two Miles West at Cartmel.
Looked a certain winner until along came Matt Crawley on Lastroseofsummer, a ride I’m pleased to say I was able to witness live.
