Grand National hero Noble Yeats trainer admits ‘this isn’t what he wants to do’ THE career of a 50-1 Grand National hero looks to have come to a sad end – as his trainer admitted: “This isn’t what he wants to do.” Noble Yeats was as good as a Royal winner of the world’s most famous race in 2022.
They took him home and will have discussions on his future which could well be retirement

January 16, 2025 at 21:45 #1718115Sad for a 10 year old, but I don’t think they have much choice but to retire Noble Yeats.
He hated going around those National fences last year… Didn’t look promising when wearing stronger headgear of a hood on reappearance – no better over hurdles. If they keep him in training then only a matter of time before he gets the dreaded squiggle… And that for a Grand National winner who used to be so genuine.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 16, 2025 at 22:07 #1718118Hes earnt them plenty , gave them some fun . That horse dont want to do it , its a retire straight away job , not even a hard decision i would have thought . Owes them nothing at all.
January 17, 2025 at 01:28 #1718137He has won a National, been 4th in a Gold Cup and then a month later 4th in another National and then went on to win the G2 Cleeve Hurdle after that – his last three races though have resulted in being 7th in the Stayers Hurdle (beaten 12L), 19th in another National (beaten 56L) and then was PU in the Savills Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas.
I think they said he refused to even go into the parade ring at Leopardstown that day and that to me is a horse saying loud and clear, I don’t want any part of this game anymore. He is 10 and owes absolutely nothing to anyone and it would be criminal (and dangerous) to keep on running him now – let him enjoy a well earned retirement, whether that be kicking around a paddock with whatever other horses the Waley-Cohen’s have at home doing bugger all or some kind of ambassador role (if he is amenable to that) or leading a string or doing a bit of hunting (if they still do that) or even just being a hack to keep his mind active at least.
January 29, 2025 at 18:31 #1719117More updates issued not long ago on Noble Yeats, he has returned home and after pulling up last race is very sore in his back.
They don’t know if he will return to the racecourse or not but if he is to retire he will be alongside Long RunVF x
