Hi Rex,
Well done with 66/1 winner.
I think people do look at these threads, but need to be given some insight into how you arrive at your selections, otherwise we cannot learn.
I know people are often reluctant to publicise their methods in case they are plagiarised and published or even sold elsewhere, but I really don’t think that is likely to happen in this quiet corner of the punting world.
Best of luck with your ‘no-hopers’, Rex, even if you cannot give us a clue about your approach.

Thanks for your congratulations.
I understand your point about divulging systems and methods. There has always been on this board and others the debate of whether system originators should divulge their systems or just post them for others to back, lay or ignore as they wish. I think that for very simple systems like the ones tested on here for a couple of weeks two months ago, that is all well and good. The system that I am trying on here is very new (I assume – to me anyhow) and quite complicated. So far it has had one excellent priced winner (some might say a fluke) and 2 places. Many of the horses selected have not run well at all, like yesterdays for example. Therefore, it is far too early to say whether I have stumbled onto something, or it is just a crock of you know what. I post on several other boards too and there are people out there who do lurk and sell new systems to the unwary.
I am only playing these for very small stakes and I originally intended to see if the bank would last into June. Until the big priced winner I though it might not even make it into May.
The selections are arrived at in a systematic and long winded way and I want to ensure that I get any early prices before I post here and at the places.
I will continue to post them until the bank is bust. I will then explain the rules to see if someone else can improve them or add filters etc.
All I will say is that I believe the horses should be trading at about half of their forecast prices. Of course, even that would still make most of them outsiders. Also no type of race is excluded.

April 29, 2005 at 08:19 #59119Thanks for honest reply, Rex.
Also, another big priced winner. Well done. You don’t need many of these to make your system pay. There are a few people who have posted medium to long shot type systems over the last few years and I have been surprised at how well they have done considering all the stats suggesting that this is not a profitable area for systems. This is why I am always curious about the thinking behind such methods. Interesting – I’ll keep watching.

May 1, 2005 at 17:10 #59135Thanks db.
If Bella Vista had got out on the far side just a little bit earlier she might have troubled the winner. She will win some big races this year I think. Virginia Waters looked like a very good horse though.
