My prices in brackets
IDEAL WORLD (7-1) 4th to Twice Over wouldn`t be good enough, however, theirs a fair chance he`s a fair bit better than that, stables horses are running into form so whilst theirs plenty to find at the weights i expect a big run and a place!
KING OF ROME (14-1) Ran poor in Irish champion and needs to improve on best form, thus i can`t imagine he will be in the three!
VISION DÈTAT (10-11) Can`t understand why he`s longer in the Arc market than PROSPECT WELLS after all he`s 5 from 5 and has already stuffed the latter in the French Derby,it simply doesn`t make sense!,this horse as done nothing but improve and his lazy way of racing means the pace of the race will be irrelevent, very sound betting opportunity despite being stepped up slightly in trip, jockey of the moment riding, bet of the day!!
FULL OF GOLD (40-1) Last in Derby, stepping up in trip should suit but plenty to prove!!
CENTENNIAL (16-1) Can`t see it,this is a differant ball game than the race he stole last time!
CITY LEADER (12-1) Best of the overseas runners but best hopes are a place!
PROSPECT WELLS (11-4) Flattered by latest where form is questionable in any case(MAGADAN/CHANGE THE WORLD close up),profile says he`s nothing special(1 win from 6) and no reason to think he can find over 9legnths with VISION, one win from a moderate horse where he won by a neck does little to show why the UK Bookies are being unreal with a quote of 7-4!!
THE BET
20 points maximum VISION DÈTAT at 7-4 with most UK Bookies, won`t be this price on track!!
September 14, 2008 at 11:08 #180865I’ll be supporting Ideal World being the second foal from Banks Hill and I thought he did ok in the Eugene Adam. A bit one-paced so maybe the 1m4f suits better and running in a pedestrian tempo, that Banks Hill acceleration may kick in.
Anyway – not happy about the lack of quality in this field.
September 14, 2008 at 15:12 #180899How well did Vision D’Etat win? Was it workmanlike?

It wasn’t spectacular, but the best horse won.
September 14, 2008 at 16:16 #180916Workman like with seemingly a little left too. Didnt seem to be ridden too hard and just got up on the line by a nose

You’re having a laugh surely? I was wondering for a lot of the straight whether it was off or not. I thought it had plenty in hand and looks the second best 3-y-o prospect for the Arc after the filly.
September 14, 2008 at 21:31 #181003David,
I said he wasnt ridden too hard and had some left. I’m of the same opinion that he’s a good shot for the Arc behind Zarkava and he did get up on the line.
I’m not sure what I’m having a laugh about
?September 14, 2008 at 21:57 #181011Apologies, I mis-read your post. I thought you’d said ‘workmanlike with seemingly little left’, which is very different to ‘workmalike with seemingly a little left’. Sorry

No problem David I had to read it again myself to make sure I hadnt wrote it wrong to be honest
September 15, 2008 at 02:14 #181034Good effort by Ideal World – I’d like the team to store him away for next season and a crack at the 1m2f races.
September 15, 2008 at 07:48 #181043Not to hard………you can say that again!!, i thought i was going to suffer from an “heart still stand“ watching Mendizabel mess around.
I`ve seen this horse in all of his races and the one thing i will say, he only does enough, can`t wait to see him in the Arc!!
September 15, 2008 at 08:24 #181045Thats the thing with horses that just keep pulling out more Tony, you just don’t know how good they are until they face a really good challenge, I thought Famous Names challenge in the french derby looked really good, but I think this years arc will be a real stamina test, thanks to the O’brien contingent and am jsut hoping he sees it out well. Fingers crossed.
September 15, 2008 at 16:53 #181142Top tipping Tony, remind me to read you before playing in these races next year!
