Oh dear Nick what was you thinking today on Persian Delight ay Chepstow in the 4-05.
You must surely look back and think I gave that one away.
Clearly on the best horse but somehow contrived to get beat.

    You could see it happening
Josephine Gordon nearly got turned over on the Palmer horse at 1/7 for doing the same thing at Newcastle
Even when you’re cruising and travelling well, you need to keep forward momentum

Not going to do any good for his getting more rides from Nicholls.
Tbh, Schofield is far from my favourite jockey. Gets them jumping well enough and goes through a race stylishly. But for some reason doesn’t seem to like going to the front and – imo more often than most jockeys – gives hold up horses too much to do. This time though, he gets carried to the front and doesn’t kick on until too late.

i think schofield rode a blinder on the horse. as i backed the winner. i was ust going on ptp form. and them saying samcro is the new frankel of the umps. elegant only got beat a length so cant be that bad. but yes jockey made a complete balls up. must admit not one of my fav jockeys either. another who gets them jumping well and looks like quality doing so. but he likes to win by a length or less and make it look good. sometimes you have to win the race before you get to the last when you have the oppertunity

    BUT WELL RODE NICK

Maybe you don’t like him, but at least you should do him the courtesy of spelling his name properly.

And of course when he rides a peach (as for example on Art Mauresque or Marracudja), there will be silence from armchair jockeys as it doesn’t quite fit their preconceptions.

Anyway, I thought that slagging off jockeys was the prerogative of the Betfair forum?

Hi Highflyer, I saw on twitter over the summer that Empiracle was back in, how are things going with him? Would be great to see him back on a racecourse.

Highflyer I was not slagging him off merely commenting on a poor ride. Footballers get slagged off for poor games thatvis just life. If you want to comment on a good ride then do so but when a jockey gets beat on a horse that should from watching the race have won then one must expect for comments about the ride to be made.
Personally I think he is fine as a jockey but that was a poor ride and he should have won.
I am as you say an armchair punter but have watched and followed the sport for 50 years so my judgement on watching races and rides I would like to think is ok and you don’t need to be a jockey or have been one to see what is a good and bad ride it is just experience and years of watching the sport

Totally agree with your comments droffats. Perfectly legitimate for watchers of the sport to criticise poor rides, but Nick is the one always seems to get picked on, most of the time unfairly imo. Worth noting that the horse was coming back after a season off with a leg injury, so was never going to be subjected to a hard race 1st time out.

Can’t say for certain as I left the partnership when the serious injury occurred, but the hope was that he could eventually come back as a pointer/hunter-chaser. Given that he’ll be 9 rising 10, that seems the realistic option.
