Morning all – the going is officially Good
However I would say where the ground has been cut up it still feels rather claggy underfoot – I have just had to scrape some mud off my shoes.
The forecast is for showers after lunch with more prolonged rain later on, although the worse of the rain is expected after racing.
At the moment I would say there is more blue sky than cloudy, however there are some nasty grey clouds forming upwind..

July 11, 2008 at 12:50 #172823It is a bit cloudier than earlier on but still no sign of any precipitation yet.
Going stick is 7.8
July 11, 2008 at 14:17 #172840Jocks are reporting the ground is riding on the fast side of good.
July 11, 2008 at 14:47 #172843It is my impression that the far rail looks a bit dead- not much winning sticking close to that rail from a low draw.
July 11, 2008 at 14:53 #172846I would tend to agree with you there Carv – I think that certainly undid Flawed Genius in the first.
July 11, 2008 at 15:52 #172850For those without RUK – the last race was run in teh worse conditions I have ever seen.
Torrential rain, hail and thunder – with nine of teh ten newcomers this will put them off in future for sure.

I see your Newmarket in July and raise you… Cottenham last December!
Mine and HJ’s socks still haven’t dried from that day out.

Still, I shall peruse the RUK re-run tonight with interest. If it’s anything like what’s just swept over my office in Chesham then I don’t envy you having been out in it one jot.

July 11, 2008 at 17:19 #172857This was far worse than Cottenham GC because we weren’t wearing wellies and waterproofs!
Thank goodness I spotted it coming and popped inside for some light refreshment.
July 11, 2008 at 18:40 #172869Yoinks! That sounds appalling, Adrian (and sorry, yes, I forgot completely that you copped for it at Cottenham as well – at least it’s a little further above freezing at Newmarket today!)
