Anyone out there betting online via the TOTESPORT website a 4th place is no longer valid via the totepool in non handicaps with 16 runners or more in the Republic of Ireland.

I never thought it was anyway!
The official placings in a race are:
4 or less you have to pick the winner.
5 up to 7 first 2 placings.
8 or more in non-handicaps first 3 placings.
Handicaps only
16 or more first 4 placings.
Bookmakers don’t have to give you 5 placings but only do so for good public relations.
Tote however, esp in pool bets ie placepot and jackpots only give the official placings.

The Irish Tote, up to very recently, paid out on 4th place in all races with 16+ runners, handicap or not
I wasn’t aware that Totesport did the same.

If you check out the TOTESPORT website by going into the totepool section and then go into the winandplace section under any meeting in the Republic of Ireland.You will see totepool terms places 1 2 3 4 advertised there for non handicaps with 16 or more runners.I’m wondering is this false advertising by the TOTE because 4th place no longer counts in non handicaps with 16 runners or more; are the public being misled here especially people new to betting?

Sorry forgot to add check out what i’ve stated at the 3 day CURRAGH meting in Ireland this weekend in ALL the non handicap races with 16 or more runners.Totesport also told me via e-mail they would rectify this error 4 weeks ago.Me thinks they have been in error here for about a year now i’m guessing

Its to be hoped BETFRED notice this error or someone might have a case here as regards false advertising against the TOTESPORT website? Maybe Barney Curley and his relatives??!
