James Stevens needs to study the its/it’s chart. A lot of RP journos over the years have been poor

Nice, I’d opine. A welcome change from bookmakers, booze peddlers, city sharks and unsavoury middle-eastern states

That was about my initial summary, but assumed there was sumat I wasn’t aware of based on the OP.

“A lot of RP journos over the years have been poor.”

And I was one of the worst, Tank, possibly THE worst.

That said, a few of the current crop are giving me competition for the title.

Surprised that the LadFred365 When The Fun Stops, Double Your Stake FOBT Gold Cup at Cheltenham isn’t happening.

    Still, always next year.

You would not make the its/it’s or your/you’re mistakes though, Ian.

These young cubs should have it drilled into them.

Not that I’ve got a clue how old this chap is, very rarely read the RP these days.

True enough, Tank, and it’s goes well beyond the newspaper media.

When I read social media and see even people of our generation typing: “your” instead of “you’re,” “there” instead of “their,” “are” instead of “our” and “could of” instead of “could have” etc I find myself thinking: “Am I the only f****r who actually went to school?”

    Yes!

    And “loose” instead of “lose!”

It actually requires more effort – an extra character – to get one of the simplest words in the English language wrong!

    Cathartic rant over!

    Maybe!

If they can’t find a sponsor for the gold cup or derby what chance of finding the money for the smaller meeting , I read one of the reason,s magniers pulled out was because of so called bad publicity from last year’s meeting going ahead despite covid concerns …. While Cheltenham have handled this well with the decision to go with the local charity where does it leave them after this

If you think it’s bad now wait until the affordability checks come in.
I’ve gambled on horse racing almost half a century but I am afraid once I am asked to show if I can afford it or not and can only lose £100 per week/month that is me done.
I will walk away and I say countless other will follow.
It will be a sad day for racing and may well be the end of racing as we know it.
It will continue but it will be vastly different which will be sad.

I agree with you there, no way I would allow any bookie, or anyone else for that matter, access to my finances.

BB news did warn you that Cheltenham could furthermore carry the covid curse, and racing could thereafter pay the ultimate price and metamorphise into the new variant of unacceptable blood sports.

The whole country has been locked up for a year and a day and the Govt perps suddenly realised that in our heavily sedated and somnambulistic state they could surreptitiously get the toxins out. A bit like the May Ball at Cambridge where a Dr Harold Shipman has sneaked in unnoticed wearing a clever student mask and is readily mixing, and serving morphine laced cocktails, to unsuspecting, desensitized and debilitated, and soon to be deadly yellowing YOOFS. 🧐

You only had to SEA THE STARS

🐢…The prophecy was found in written form at the little mining town of Cape Cross now chillingly known as Cape Fear set by the Urban Sea.

As any of the locals will tell you – it’s not hard to pull a fish or two from there, but few are taken home and eaten, after noticing the strangely moving eyes. 🧐
