    Hi there,

I wanted to ask if anyone knew how to convert the Beyer Speed Ratings into BHB ratings?

    Regards

Trying to equate USA speed ratings with UK weight ratings is a bit of a nonsense. We would not mix UK speed ratings and UK weight ratings. However, in their ignorance, there are some USA punters who make some crude comparisons.

RPR is Racing Post which is up to 5 pounds / points lower than Timeform. The highest rated horses giving the most difference.
RPR ratings are fairly close on average to BHB ratings

BRIS and TSN are alternative sources of USA style speed figures.

For what they are worth some figure from Paceform

Trying to equate UK weight ratings with actual weights doesn’t work too well either! Not even Arkle could’ve ran well while actually carrying 212 lbs, and no handicapper would’ve made him carry that weight. I truly doubt Frankel could win a handicap actually carrying 147 lbs. They really are just subjective numbers.

I can’t recall ever seeing BRIS or TSN in past performances before – the only ones bettors usually use are BSFs (Daily Racing Form), Equibase Speed Figures ("Daily Racing Program") and sometimes Ragozin numbers/"the sheets" if they’re true racetrack degenerates.

Don’t bother; you’ll end up in the nuthouse, trust me. This game will lead you to the poorhouse and nuthouse. Try to enjoy the journey not make it hard work. That’s the message of this group generally. Me, I’ve taken up painting.

Thank you for the kind replies.

I have in fact worked out a rationale but logical formulation to convert Beyer’s in line with BHB ratings across a spectrum of distances through a lot of further research and data analysis which looks to be proving fruitful inrelation to performance related results although no monetary investment has been laid in this pilot phase.

    I’ll keep you informed.
