There is a serious point about duplicate threads as well. Perhaps a tougher line on these would help cut down on the repetition.
February 24, 2008 at 11:56 #146055………an almost child-like enthusiasm in some cases, wouldn’t you say?

February 24, 2008 at 11:59 #146056We don’t really need a star system at all IMO
February 24, 2008 at 12:00 #146057I suppose that is why we need sober minded father figures around.

February 24, 2008 at 12:23 #146062Anyone who believes that being in possession of five green stars beneath an anonymous username is a meritorious aspiration on something as trivial (though enjoyable) as an internet message board must have a serious inferiority complex.
A vibrant, busy forum and new correspondents are welcome but the volume of posts recently has been overwhelming. On firing up TRF on my return last Friday from a few days away I was presented with a morass of new threads most of which I can’t be arsed to wade through. Which goes against the grain as I normally make a point of scouring everything out of respect for the small percentage of members (5767 and counting) who actually bother to post, and in the hope of unearthing some jewels: happily they are still there, though ’tis a deep mine at present.
February 24, 2008 at 12:31 #146069Some form of flow control should be introduced. New members come on trying to set records for the number of posts and drag TRF towards the standards of the other place.

I agree, though it is reasonable to think that no one actually does believe that in any case.

February 24, 2008 at 12:44 #146077Do you think I should delete that I have 5 green starts on TRF from my CV then?

Now that they’ve secured you a job at Sleepy Hollow you can DJ
February 24, 2008 at 13:05 #146087when "AP Racing" , Andrew Hughes and your good self say exactly the same thing these same people are nowhere to be seen.
Thank you very much for including me in such exalted company Marb, my ego has gone stratospheric
Have a gold star
Am I posting too much?
February 24, 2008 at 13:12 #146090I’m sure that I’ll now be told I don’t have to read the threads if I’m not interested, but most of these posts occur in other wise interesting discussions
Maybe posting your thoughts in such discussions would help AP
February 24, 2008 at 13:39 #146093I have amild interest in the prices that people obtain (but can live without it. easily enough) but nothing is more boring than hearing about how much was wagered….
Doesnt impress. There are 50p yankee punters who have more insight than £10k a bet mugs
Not aiming this at anyone…just an observation

Forget what said above AP and thanks for the PM
A New section is indeed needed for those who want to discuss bets they’ve placed, won and lost
February 24, 2008 at 18:09 #146159er……daily lays and plays is allready here for people to do such things

The Dalty Lays and Plays is a good section – you can discuss, post what you fancy before race
The New section i was thinking of, is one where Ghost of the Fellow, One Man. Bulwark and other interested parties could discuss how much they’ve won and lost
February 24, 2008 at 19:08 #146187Could be called the yourbestmate forum?
