I was working on the speed figures for yesterday meeting at Chantilly, I had the going allowance on the fast side of good at +0.14s/f,and I was looking at a figure for New Bay of 109 (less WFA).
In my book if New Bay and Treve were ever to meet, with the 3yo WFA allowance New Bay would have 14lbs in hand, he is the best 3yo in Europe on my figures.
I do believe Prince Khalid Abdullah has another Frankel on his hands…

June 1, 2015 at 10:49 #1088829Never dispute your figures BB, though a comparison to Frankel seems ambitious? As far as times go, I don’t think Treve has, when given optimum conditions been pushed enough to produce her very best time figure and I would suspect a bigger time figure resides within her at a mile and half if she needed to produce it.

New Bay has clocked a fast time. If he is a Frankel, where does that leave Highland Reel, a horse deemed not worthy to run in the 2000 Guineas, before being well held in the French version?
Make Believe beat New Bay with a fair degree of comfort in the French 2000 Guineas, so how good a horse is Make Believe?
As always, time will tell, just as it did with Coneygree’s rating after the Gold Cup.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
