i haven’t heard loads of new stuff by Idlewild, but they always seemed to be trying a little too hard to sound like The Smiths. No bad thing in itself, but they never really grabbed me.
I thought the new song by Idlewild was REM! Quite good, but not really my cup of tea.
And Zoz, I saw that guy from the Bravery….he’s minging! :biggrin:

It would be very lazy and convenient of me to ally this dip in form to them having now moved a major label and been given some proper money to play with this time around, but I doubt it’s wholly coincidental.
I saw them play in Bristol last April, and the songs off the then-forthcoming new album didn’t go down at all well comparatively. The irreverent cover of the Pointer Sisters’ "I’m So Excited" curried a bit more favour with most, but irritated me – they’re better than that.
"Decepticon", "Keep on Living", "Whats Yr Take on Cassevetes", "Hot Topic" etc etc all still kicked mighty ass, though, and their movie show backdrops behind the stage make me giggle.

I agree. LT’s debut album was fantasic, as was ‘Feminist Sweepstakes’. I saw them last October, just after ‘This Island’ had been released, and the new songs went down really really well. I think the electro-clash disco pop music is going down well with the kids, and of course LT supported the Scissor Sisters on a tour not so long ago which would gather following. <br>I heard some kids on the bus the other day saying "Hey have you heard that new band Le Tigre" and i wanted to smack them down. How dare they be unwise to Kathleen, JD and Johanna’s previous amazing albums. I think ‘TKO’ was a good song to realse though, and as i said before, i’ve heard it played in TopShop and H&M and stuff :-(, but i did hear ‘Deceptacon’ from their first album on a Jamie Oliver program advert :-D .<br>I never thought i’d be discussing Le Tigre on the racing forum! I’m so happy :D:D:D:D

Actually I might have been looking at the wrong guy. Is it the lead singer? A couple of the others are quite hot so I may have misjudged you! :biggrin:

Also look out for a band from Redditch, Worcestershire, called Page 44. (My cousin’s the drummer!)

also, their single sounds just like a track called "Between Us And Them" by Moving Units (never heard from them again, but it was a very good Joy Division/New Order -esque slice of pop rock)…
