The Penultimate Grade 1 of the Xmas period. Monalee the the odds on fav (10/11), 2nd in the Albert Bartlett so proven over the distance; only second time jumping fences. Rathvinden , on the other hand, is a 9 year old Novice Chaser who has had 7 runs over fences throughout the summer. Was 3 lengths behind Death Duty last time out on Death Duty’s favourite winter ground and trip (2m4f), which is a good yardstick. While Monalee is a class act and is my idea of the RSA winner at the moment I think 13/2 is a great each way shout for Rathvinden considering he has experience on his side.
Jury Duty is no slouch either and has the scalp of Presenting Percy to his name; however he was bashed by Bamako Moriviere, who could also be a good horse. Bon Papa won over 2 miles last time out and moves up to 3 miles, where Mullins thinks he’s more suited. Moulin A Vent out for Noel Meade to try and keep his good run from yesterday going. Invitation Only and Footpad backers will be keeping an eye to see how Moulin A Vent fairs as a decent showing will frank their form.
Danaria Des Obeaux and Shattered Love also in the field for Elliot. Shattered Love got close to Jury Duty last time out and is available at a better price of 14/1 compared to 8/1 for Jury Duty. Thebarrowman completes the field and is a 100/1 shot.
8 runners and 3 places; I fancy Rathvinden each way at 13/2.
Shattered Love wins. Jury Duty finishes a close second which boosts the form even further my lad Bamako Moriviere
Monalee fell but is ok.
Bon papa looked to be crusing with one to jump and legless on the straight. Didn’t look like a stayer, and didn’t look like he is willing to put the head down and battle. Happy with the each way return I got but I doubt he wants 3 miles. Good winner in Shattered love, pity about monalee
